Road safety is paramount then, and even more so today. With this in mind, the Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) has renewed its partnership with Tamang Ride PH for 2026, bolstering a shared commitment to road safety education among young Filipinos.

While the Japanese carmaker puts in its expertise in providing well-engineered vehicles, equipment, facility, and professionally trained personnel, Tamang Ride PH shares its part by operating under the guidance of A Child’s Trust is Ours to Nurture, Inc. (ACTION), a group focused on instilling responsible road behavior at an early age. The collaboration, which began in January 2025, aims to expand the rach of campus-based road safety programs tailored for children and beginner road users.

Following the recent Kids on Safety initiative for children aged 7 to 10, the partners conducted Students on Safety on February 28, 2026 at Paranaque National High School – San Isidro Annex. The event targeted students aged 16 to 18, equipping them with foundational yet valuable knowledge ahead of applying for their driver’s licenses.

In detail, the Students on Safety program modules were curated by Tamang Ride PH and anchored on the Teen Smart framework of the Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC). Discussions focused on traffic rules, responsible riding practices, and the mindset required of future drivers and daily commuters.

To reinforce classroom learning, HSDC instructors facilitated on-site Test Ride and Learn to Ride sessions using Honda motorcycles. The hands-on component allowed inexperienced participants to practice basic riding skills under professional supervision in a safe, controlled environment. By the end of the activity, 100 students completed the program.

“We are grateful to have found a partner like the Tamang Ride PH team. From their president and founder, Mr. Hajime Yokota, and even to the rest of the team, they truly embody the same passion we have for road safety, which you can see translates to our insightful and practical activities with them,” said HFI President Rie Miyake.

HFI and Tamang Ride PH’s renewed partnership aligns with Honda’s global safety vision of achieving zero collision fatalities involving Honda vehicles by 2050. This mission comes with an interim target of reducing such fatalities by 50% coming into 2030.

Autocar’s Take

Road safety education often begins too late. What stands out in this partnership is the focus on young students who are just about to become drivers. By combining structured modules with supervised riding experience, the program moves beyond theory and into practical awareness.

The involvement of the HSDC adds credibility and structure. If similar initiatives are replicated nationwide, they could meaningfully influence responsible driving culture at a formative stage. For a country that continues to grapple with road incidents, sustained education efforts like this deserve consistent industry backing, as well as institutional and government support.
