Further strengthening its local product lineup, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) officially launched the new Honda City and Honda Brio. In a launch event held at the Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, HCPI showcased the latest iteration of the City and Brio. The launch also served as the inauguration of the four-day event exhibiting the updated Honda City and Honda Brio.

The new City
Aside from refreshed aesthetics, one of the biggest improvements of the new City is the inclusion of Honda SENSING. All variants of the Honda City now come equipped with the brand’s proprietary driver-assist safety technology features. Honda SENSING features Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Auto-High Beam (AHB) now come standard across the new Honda City range.
As for its exterior updates, the new Honda City features a new RS design front grill with RS emblem as well as new front and rear bumper with carbon-wrapped lower molding for the top-of-the-line RS variant. LED Daytime Running Lights are available across variants. LED fog lights are also standard for the RS, while the V variant gets halogen fog lights. For headlights, the RS gets LEDs while other variants come with halogen projector headlights.
At the rear, the new City features a newly designed rear bumper with sporty carbon-wrapped diffuser. Separating the RS from the rest is a high gloss black-colored trunk spoiler. The New 16-inch alloy wheels are featured in the RS and V variants while the S and E variants get 15-inch wheels. The latest Honda City also gets an update in the windshield shape for better visibility by minimizing blind spots.
Stepping inside, the new City gets newly designed full leather seats, sport pedals Dark Red front panel garnish, and High Gloss Black interior accents for the RS variant, while the V variant gets High Gloss Black front panel garnish and Silver interior accents. Also, the new City now comes with a new 4.2-inch full color TFT meter with Red ambient light instrument panel for the RS while the rest of the variants received White and Green ambient lighting for their new instrument cluster.
The new City also received an improved 8-inch advanced touchscreen display audio for the RS, V, and S variants which also comes with improved LCD display and improved reverse camera resolution. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now wireless for the RS, V, and S variants.
Powering the new City is the proven 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine mated to a CVT system that is rated at 121 PS and 145 Nm torque. This powerful yet fuel efficient engine is capable of reaching 22.2 km/L based on the latest UN-R101 Fuel Economy Testing for highway driving conditions, conducted under a controlled environment in Tochigi, Japan.
The new City also adds a new 1.5 E CVT variant which makes Honda SENSING more accessible for more customers. Pricing for the new Honda City starts at PHP 973,000 for the 1.5 E CVT Honda Sensing, PHP 998,000 for the 1.5 S CVT Honda SENSING, PHP 1,073,000 for the 1.5 V CVT Honda SENSING, and PHP 1,128,000 for the 1.5 RS CVT Honda SENSING.
Colors available for the new Honda City are Ignite Red Metallic (RS CVT, V CVT and S CVT), Obsidian Blue Pearl (New color; RS CVT and V CVT), Platinum White Pearl (additional PHP 20,000 – RS CVT and V CVT), Taffeta White (S CVT and E CVT), Lunar Silver Metallic (S CVT and E CVT), and Meteoroid Gray Metallic (all variants).
The new Brio
First arrived in the Philippine market in 2014, the Honda Brio has been the small hatchback of choice by over 30,000 customers to date. Now in its second generation, the Brio received enhancements to further cater the needs of first-time car buyers.
Made more stylish, the sporty Honda hatchback received a new Piano Black RS design front grill that features a new design pattern with bigger grill opening. The top variant Brio RS also features updated fog lights that are complemented by a redesigned fog light garnish. Daytime Running Lights for both the RS and V are now all LED. The top-of-the-line Brio also features Crystal Black door mirrors with power folding and power adjustable function as well as a new side sill lower garnish.
The updates for the Brio RS continue at the rear with a tailgate spoiler, RS design rear bumper lower garnish, and tail lights.
The new Brio RS features a set of 15-inch RS design alloy wheels. The V variant Brio sits on newly designed 14-inch alloy wheels, while the base S variant comes in 14-inch steelies with cover.
Stepping inside, the new Honda Brio features Black fabric seats with Red accents for RS variants. Speed sensing auto door locks are now standard for both RS and V variants while power windows with auto up/down for driver window features are available across variants.
The new Brio is equipped with a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen audio across all variants. New audio controls with illumination are available in the RS and V. Gadget connectivity for the RS and V variants is easy with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB Port, AM/FM, and Android Smartphone Mirroring. The RS variants come with 6-speaker audio setup and 4-speaker audio setup for V and S for an exhilarating audio experience.
Powering the new Brio is the tried and tested 1.2-liter inline-four cylinder SOHC i-VTEC engine that is rated at 90 PS and 119Nm torque. This potent little engine is available in either CVT or 5-speed manual transmission.
For safety, the new Brio maintained its G-CON impact absorption technology across variants. All variants of the new Brio still get Driver and Front Passenger Airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-Force Distribution as standard. Also, Rear Parking Sensors are now available across all variants.
For pricing, the new Honda Brio is priced at PHP 735,000 for the base and lone manual transmission variant 1.2 S MT, PHP 827,000 for the 1.2 V CVT, PHP 853,000 for the 1.2 RS CVT, and PHP 863,000 for the 1.2 RS Black Top CVT.
Available colors for the new Brio are Stellar Diamond Pearl (anew color – additional PHP 20,000 – RS variants), Electric Lime Metallic (new color – RS Black Top and V), Phoenix Orange Pearl (RS Black Top), Rallye Red (V), Meteoroid Gray Metallic (RS, V, and S), and Taffeta White (V and S).
