Geely Auto Group has introduced the Geely Smart Charging, which is the Chinese car brand’s next-generation AI-powered charging technology. The Geely Smart Charging tech is said to deliver ultra-fast charging while reducing heat and improving long-term battery health.
The car brand shared that the heart of Geely Smart Charging is Xingrui PowerMind, an AI model developed by Geely Auto Group and StepFun. The Xingrui PowerMind allows optimized EV charging by taking into account the vehicle, battery, charging station, cloud, grid, and energy storage system.
The Geely Smart Charging tech debuts alongside the fifth-generation Geely Smart Charging Station, which delivers peak charging power up to 2,250 kW, as well as the next-gen Ultra Short Blade Battery.
Geely said that the fifth-gen Geely Smart Charging Station features an AI fast-charging function that aligns or adjusts charging power with the battery’s real-time condition. Through this AI-powered tech, Geely said that it is able to increase battery cycle life by 20 percent.

Geely’s AI-powered charging tech also uses algorithms to predict battery temperatures up to 30 seconds ahead and adjust charging power dynamically. The car brand noted that this system is designed to keep the battery’s average charging temperature below 55°C, while limiting peak temperature to below 65°C.
In real-world tests, the battery packs equipped in the Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 were able to be charged from 10 percent to 70 percent in 4 minutes and 30 seconds. Meanwhile, charging it from 10 percent to 97 percent took 8 minutes and 40 seconds. These charging times are said to be Geely’s fastest production-ready charging performance to date.
To put things in perspective, Geely’s new AI-powered ultra-fast charging shows that it has faster charging times compared to BYD’s next-gen Blade Battery 2.0. BYD says vehicles equipped with Blade Battery 2.0 can charge from 10 percent to 70 percent in about five minutes. It added that the new battery can reach 97 percent charge in under 10 minutes. As such, Geely’s charging times are faster compared to BYD’s.
Meanwhile, Geely Auto Group also introduced the next-gen Ultra Short Blade Battery, which is focused on longevity and safety while improving charging performance. It uses Geely-developed laser-welding technology for cell tabs and covers, cutting heat during charging by 10 percent.

Autocar’s Take
Car manufacturers, especially the Chinese car brands, are really taking EV charging times seriously. It seems that the Chinese automakers are in a race to develop the fastest EV charging tech, and from the looks of it, Geely has been able to come up with faster EV charging tech than BYD. Geely was able to do this through the smart integration of AI tech into its tech. The AI-powered charging manages everything and optimizes the power delivery, which yields ultra-fast charging, allowing an EV battery to charge from 10 percent to 70 percent in 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
