FOTON lowers Thunder pickup prices, announces new GTL truck variants

Commercial vehicle specialist FOTON Motor Philippines has just added greater value to its dependable workhorse, the Thunder pickup.

FOTON, the first Chinese car brand to enter the Top 10 automotive companies in the country in terms of sales, announced recently its new six-figure lower prices for the whole Thunder lineup. For the first time among currently available four-door midsize pickups of all brands, pricing for the likewise midsize Thunder pickup now starts under P1 million, with a retail price of Php 980,000 for the Thunder 4×2 EL M/T.

The pricing of the rest of the Thunder range is as follows:

The all-new and bigger Thunder pickup boasts a bolder and more rugged design whose compelling front end is quite evocative of the flagship pickup truck of its competitors.

Like most other FOTON models, the new Thunder is proudly assembled by Filipinos at the FOTON plant in Clark, Pampanga. The new truck is powered by a strong yet fuel-efficient 3^rd-generation turbocharged 2.0-liter CRDi diesel engine generating 160 hp at 4,000 rpm and a torque rating of 390 Nm. It has a 1-ton payload capacity.

The Thunder pickup comes with rollbars and cargo hooks (on the 4×2 MT, 4×2 AT, and 4×2 AT Sports), large LED taillamps, LED DRLs and fog lamps, and a large sporty grill bearing prominent FOTON branding. Its state-of-the-art truck body construction is a rugged mix of high-strength steel with lightweight and energy-absorbing design.

Inside the Thunder’s spacious interior is a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat in exquisite stitched leather, a 10.25-inch floating LCD touchscreen to satisfy your infotainment needs, a 6-inch digital LCD instrument panel to display vital vehicle parameters, and an ambient lamp whose light changes color (all variants except 4×2 MT and 4×2 EL MT) according to your mood.

Modern car-like comfort and convenience features include Engine Start/Stop button, Car Finder Button, and Manual Climate Control.

The new Thunder comes with the latest Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Antilock Braking System (ABS) from the world leader, Bosch. It has dual front SRS airbags.
