Formula V1 & 1NZ Cup final rounds to commence at Clark this weekend

Get ready for an action-packed weekend as Tuason Racing presents Rounds 3 and 4 of the 2024 Formula V1 and 1NZ Cup at Clark International Speedway on October 19-20! These premier racing series promise high-speed excitement, fierce competition, and non-stop thrills, featuring top drivers from across the nation battling it out on the track. Formula V1 brings the intensity of open-cockpit, Formula-style racing, while the 1NZ Cup delivers exhilarating wheel-to-wheel action with its unique local racing format.

Intense Battles from Both Series

As we reach the mid-season showdown, the Formula V1 drivers are set to push their machines and themselves to the limit. Meanwhile, the 1NZ Cup offers thrilling grassroots competition, featuring everyday local cars transformed into racing machines. With the championship standings tightening, the Overall class sees the top three drivers separated by just 7 points, while the Rookie class showcases a razor-thin 2.5-point gap between the top two competitors.

Racing fans can expect an adrenaline-filled weekend, with these highlights:

  • Formula V1: These lightweight, Japanese-engineered race cars are designed for maximum speed and maneuverability. Drivers will tackle the challenging Clark International Speedway, showcasing precision and skill in a high-stakes battle for victory.
  • 1NZ Cup: Featuring a variety of Toyota cars powered by the 1NZ engine, this series tests driver adaptability and mastery over different vehicle models. The diversity of cars provides a unique racing challenge where strategy and skill are key to success.

Pure Motorsport in Focus

Tuason Racing remains committed to delivering pure racing excitement. In contrast to the spectacle-driven events, this series keeps the focus on the raw essence of motorsports. Fans can still expect a festival-like atmosphere with additional races alongside the Formula V1 and 1NZ Cups, ensuring non-stop entertainment throughout the weekend.

“We’re excited to see how these final rounds unfold as the championship battles intensify. The skill and dedication of these drivers are truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to share the thrill with the fans,” said Jeanette Tuason, CEO of Tuason Racing.

Highlights from Round 2

The action in Round 2 last July saw intense racing despite unpredictable weather conditions. Drivers faced fierce competition, culminating in steward interventions and dramatic podium finishes. In Race 3, several competitors vied for 2nd and 3rd in the Overall class, with rookies like Jesse Garcia and Danzel Waytan giving seasoned drivers a run for their money. Japanese guest driver Shunji Okumoto led the pack, taking a comfortable win, while Jesse Garcia secured 2nd in Overall and 1st in the Rookie class.

Race 4, however, delivered a different story as rain added a new layer of complexity. The changing conditions brought the field closer together, leading to thrilling battles at the front. Okumoto faced heavy pressure but regained his lead, with Masahiro Aoai and Bryan Co completing the podium. In the Rookie class, Ethan Ong came out on top, with Will Lucas and Jesse Garcia rounding out the top three.

An International Opportunity for Top Performers

Beyond the championship points, drivers have additional motivation to push their limits. In collaboration with West Racing from Japan, standout competitors could earn a coveted invitation to the Suzuka Clubman Invitational. Held at the legendary Suzuka Circuit, this race offers participants the chance to showcase their skills on an international stage, potentially opening doors for future opportunities in global motorsport.
