Ford’s data shows top 5 most loved colors for Ranger and Everest

Ford has come a long way from when Henry Ford famously stated that customers could have their Model T in any color- as long as it was black. Today, Ford offers a diverse palette of over 20 paint color options for the Ranger and 10 for the Everest, catering to customers across the Ford International Markets Group (IMG). This includes Australia and New Zealand, ASEAN, North and South Africa, and Middle East markets.

The expansion in color options reflects a shift in consumer behavior, with car buyers becoming more adventurous in their color choices. Krista Lindegger, color and materials designer at Ford Australia, notes, “Color adds personality to the vehicle and enhances the surface design.”

Despite this variety, many Ranger and Everest buyers in the region prefer classic colors. According to sales data from Ford IMG, over 35% of Rangers sold in the last six months were in shades of white, with Arctic White accounting for 26.2% and Frozen White for 10.9%. Meteor Grey followed at 12.6%, while Absolute Black and Aluminium Metallic accounted for 9.7% and 7.6% of sales respectively.

White remains the most popular color for the Everest as well, with Snow Flake White (20.2%) and Arctic White (14.2%) making up 34% of the sales mix across Ford IMG. Absolute Black is the second most favorite color at 17.9%, closely followed by Meteor Grey at 17.7%. Aluminium Metallic rounds out the top five at 10.8%.

“White is associated with cleanliness and purity, and we know that, anecdotally, white cars tend to hide scratches a little better than other colors and they don’t show dust as easily,” adds Lindegger.
