From the Mustang to the Ranger and the Everest, Ford has had multiple “home-run” cars in the past—and now, the Territory Hybrid has joined them. Bringing an electrified twist to the Dearborn outfit’s success in the Philippines, the compact crossover has sold just over 1,000 units since its launch.

According to managing director Pedro Simoes, “to have sold more than 1,000 Territory Hybrid units in over three months reflects the strong demand from customers looking to have a hybrid vehicle and the continued popularity of the Territory nameplate in the market.”

“The Territory continues to be a key vehicle in Ford’s electrification strategy in the Philippines, and the solid performance of the Territory Hybrid shows that customers are ready for a vehicle that combines efficiency, refinement, and a dynamic driving experience,” Simoes added.

As for the powertrain, the Territory Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-liter inline-four making 147 hp and 230 Nm of torque on its own. Mated to a 1.83 kW lithium-ion battery, combined output rises to 215 hp and 315 Nm of torque, sending power to the front wheels through a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. And to make the most of that output on the road, the Territory Hybrid offers three driving modes: Comfort for those who want some relaxed cruising, Normal for those who want everyday driving with no frills, and Sport for those who want a little more spirit behind the wheel.

In today’s Philippine automotive landscape, the Territory Hybrid is a breath of fresh air, especially in the electrified segment. The latter is currently dominated by Asian marques like BYD, with its wide lineup of hybrids and BEVs, and by automotive titans like Toyota, bringing the bZ4X to local shores alongside an already vast hybrid portfolio. This shows that the Blue Oval can be much more than the rumbling V8s and whining superchargers we know and love from the GT500 or Shelby F-150, proving that it’s fully capable of being a jack-of-all-trades brand rather than a one-trick pony.
