EVAP Reaffirms Strong Support for EVIDA Law

The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP) reiterates its full support for the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA) as the country advances its efforts to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption. Committed to fostering a sustainable EV ecosystem, EVAP continues to work closely with government agencies and industry stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the law’s provisions.

A key component of EVIDA is the Electric Vehicle Incentives Scheme (EVIS), which is designed to attract investments, encourage local manufacturing, and make EVs more accessible to Filipino consumers. EVAP remains actively engaged in monitoring the scheme’s development and collaborating with policymakers to ensure that the incentives are structured to benefit both industry participants and end users.

EVAP President Edmund Araga highlighted the significance of a well-executed EVIS in the country’s transition to sustainable mobility. “The EVIDA law has established a strong foundation for the electric vehicle industry in the Philippines. Proper implementation of the EVIS will be transformative—making EVs more affordable, stimulating investments in charging infrastructure, and fostering local assembly,” Araga stated.

Under EVIDA, various government agencies are responsible for implementing incentives such as tax breaks, reduced import duties, and non-fiscal benefits, including priority registration and dedicated parking spaces for EVs. These measures are expected to drive consumer demand and encourage private sector participation in the development of charging infrastructure and other essential facilities.

EVAP continues to collaborate with the Department of Energy, the Department of Trade and Industry, and other key agencies to align policies with industry requirements. The association also remains proactive in addressing stakeholder concerns regarding incentive eligibility, regulatory compliance, and technical standards.

Beyond policy advocacy, EVAP promotes EV awareness through initiatives such as the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS). This annual event gathers industry leaders, government officials, and consumers to discuss emerging trends, showcase new EV models, and foster collaboration in advancing e-mobility in the country.

Araga reaffirmed EVAP’s commitment to driving industry progress. “The success of EVIDA and EVIS depends on strong public-private collaboration. These programs must translate into tangible benefits for Filipinos—greater EV accessibility, a reliable charging network, and a thriving local EV industry,” he added.

As the momentum for EV adoption builds, EVAP remains at the forefront of advocating for policies and programs that will shape the future of sustainable transportation in the Philippines. The association calls on all stakeholders to unite in achieving a cleaner, more efficient, and electrified future for the country.
