Foton Motor Philippines, Inc. (FMPI) has marked a milestone in the country’s shift to sustainable transport with the launch of its first electric Foton lineup during the “EV Forward” event at its assembly plant inside Clark Freeport Zone.
The event brought together industry leaders, government officials, and mobility advocates to witness the unveiling of what FMPI calls the most comprehensive range of electric commercial vehicles in the Philippine market.
Clark Development Corporation (CDC) President and CEO Agnes VST Devanadera lauded the move, saying it aligns with Clark’s vision of becoming a model ecozone for sustainable mobility. She also announced plans to expand the network of EV charging stations within the ecozone in partnership with both public and private stakeholders.
“Electric vehicles are not just the future; they are the present,” Devanadera said. “By building infrastructure and supporting initiatives like Foton’s, we can accelerate the transition to cleaner, more efficient transport systems.”
FMPI Sales Deputy Director Joshua Sytin said the launch underscores Foton’s commitment to the Philippine market as it celebrates 18 years of operations.
“We are showcasing a full lineup of 100 percent electric solutions for logistics and transport, built with the same reliability Foton is known for,” Sytin said. “These EVs deliver efficient performance backed by strong after-sales service and readily available spare parts.”

Passenger and Commercial EVs
Leading the electric Foton truck lineup is the Traveller Sierra EV, touted as the first pure electric passenger van in the Philippines. It features a 77.28 kWh battery offering up to 303 km of range, powered by a motor producing 181 hp and 330 Nm of torque. It can reach a top speed of 120 km/h and supports both DC fast charging—taking about an hour—and standard AC charging at around seven hours. The van also comes with a five-year or 200,000 km warranty for its electric system.
For commercial applications, Foton electric trucks include the Tornado EV and eAUMARK EV light-duty trucks. These are equipped with permanent-magnet synchronous motors producing 154 hp and 300 Nm of torque, and can travel about 208 km on a full charge. They have a gross vehicle weight of 6,000 kg, payload capacity of around 3,600 kg, and are certified under the EU Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) from TÜV Rheinland.
Both models come with standard safety and comfort features, including ABS with EBD, multimedia systems, air conditioning, remote central locking, reverse sensors, and gradeability of up to 20 percent.

Strengthening the EV Ecosystem
The unveiling comes as the government pushes for wider EV adoption under the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA) and related incentives for manufacturers and buyers. The CDC’s plan to install more charging stations in Clark is expected to ease range anxiety and make EV ownership more practical for both businesses and individuals.
FMPI executives said they aim to position Foton as the country’s leading provider of electric commercial vehicles, offering options from passenger vans to trucks to meet the evolving needs of logistics, public transport, and private mobility.
“This is not just about selling vehicles,” Sytin stressed. “It’s about helping build a sustainable transport ecosystem in the Philippines.”
