In March 2023 Chevrolet confirmed that the sixth-generation Camaro would be the final edition of this much-lauded nameplate. With the very last Camaro expected to roll off the assembly line in January 2024, the window to drive home this quintessential American muscle car is closing fast.

In the Philippines, the Camaro is a mainstay among sports car enthusiasts and has established a strong following for its sheer power, agility, and striking presence. And the buzz surrounding the vehicle has resonated among Filipinos who are keen on driving home what is largely being regarded as the “last Camaro.”

The sixth-generation Camaro, being the last of its kind, notches its place in motoring history and cements its status as a bonafide collector’s item. Chevrolet Philippines recognizes the importance of this context and has thus announced a final call to own this pillar of American muscle. In Southeast Asia, the Philippine market will receive the last flock of this legendary icon. The sixth-generation Camaro retails for an SRP of Php 4,266,888.00, and Chevrolet Philippines is now accepting reservations in all 19 dealerships nationwide for this classic-in-the-making.

CAMARO: THE LEGENDARY CHEVROLET MUSCLE CAR

The Camaro was born as a response from a public outcry in the US for Chevrolet to produce a solid street machine that could go hard on the racetrack. The first Camaro released in 1967 was a two-door coupe with V6 and V8 engine options and a rear-wheel drivetrain and, from the jump, the motoring public fell in love with it. Throughout each of its iterations, the Camaro forged its legacy as a timeless nameplate with performance and style written into its DNA.

In the world of racing, Chevrolet campaigns the sixth-generation in a variety of motorsport series including NASCAR, International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), SRO Motorsports Group, National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), and the Supercars Championship.

Since Michael Bay’s first Transformers film in 2007, the fifth-generation Camaro has been readily associated as the iconic movie character Bumblebee.

Apart from the affinity it has drawn from gearheads, the Camaro has won over a sizeable fanbase and is regarded as an automotive pop culture icon. Over the years it has appeared in numerous TV programs, movies, and music. In the 2000 blockbuster movie Charlie’s Angels, an orange and white 1969 Camaro SS Convertible starred as the hero car driven by the famous trio of Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, and Cameron Diaz. “Bumblebee” is now synonymous with yellow Camaros, thanks to the 1977 and 2006 Camaro Concept models featured in the hit Transformers movie directed by Michael Bay. And in music, the Camaro takes the center stage in music videos like the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Californication and Gorillaz’ Stylo to name a few.

SIXTH-GENERATION CAMARO

Upholding the integrity of its forerunners, the sixth-generation Camaro is no lightweight in the power department, features an unmistakable design, and rewards those who pilot this American muscle stalwart with a beautiful exhaust note from its rumbling engine. Styled with a brazenly sculpted hood, distinct fascia with piercing LED headlamps, black Chevy bowtie and RS badge, and muscular flanks rigged with 5-spoke 20-inch machined wheels, the Camaro exudes an imposing character that is sure to captivate attention.

The legacy of Chevrolet performance begins at the Camaro’s powerhouse: a 2.0L Turbo Intercooled All-Aluminum engine that can deliver 275 hp and 398 Nm of torque. This is mated to a responsive 8-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission and a high performance Brembo® Brake package with 4-piston calipers and disc rotors that combine to provide a spirited, yet confident drive.

The Camaro is also equipped with a refined interior that’s designed with the comfort and convenience of the driver in mind. It features sport bucket seats with power adjust and memory function; an 8-inch driver information center and an 8-inch MyLink Infotainment System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; and your own digital pit crew via a Head-Up display that projects driving data near the line of sight on the windshield. The Camaro’s overall driving experience is also enhanced by a host of advanced safety and driver assistance technologies such as the patented StabiliTrak® System, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Lane Change Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), rear parking sensors, and built-in reverse camera.
