About a week ago, Chevrolet Philippines teased its launch of a new model. And now, it’s finally here. Though its official local distributor Hariphil Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), Chevrolet Philippines has finally unleashed its grooviest new family member – the all-new Chevrolet Groove.
Positioned to challenge the subcompact SUV arena, the Chevrolet Groove offers style, comfort, and goodies that justify its introductory price of P1,156,000.
Style-wise, the Chevrolet Groove flaunts a demure aura. Its angular panels, creases, black painted details, and sharp design give it a tamed but energetic look.
Up front, its sharp-looking LED headlights flank a sizable grille. A chrome strip runs across the grille, connecting the headlight housings for a more balanced look. Below is a blacked out bumper garnish, incorporating a large air intake. The side features black trims to highlight the two-toned 17-inch alloy wheels dressed in 215/55 R17 rubbers. Looking up is an aerodynamic silhouette with character details like the Groove emblem on the front doors and a C-pillar panel painted in black.

The rear-end, on the other hand, flaunts a set of LED tail lights. Just below the bumper is a continuation of the Groove’s black trims theme. But perhaps the best detail back here is the twin exhausts. Yup, not very many models in the Groove’s class have the multiple exhaust setup as it’s more commonly seen on larger SUVs like the Chevrolet Suburban.
Of course, the dual exhaust thing on the Groove does lean toward styling, but it subtly gives a hint of what’s under the hood. In this case, a gasoline fed turbocharged 1.5-liter motor that churns out 150 hp and 255 Nm of torque. The engine is connected to a CVT.

Inside, the Chevy Groove presents an assortment of features such as leather wrapped seats for its five occupants. The driver gets the power adjustable seat and a 7-inch info display. For everyone, the Groove comes with a 12-volt power outlet located at the center arm rest up front, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay support, 6-speaker audio, and a sunroof to brighten up the cabin.
For safety, the Chevy Groove offers a rather abundant list of features. These include anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution, stability control, traction control, among others. Additionally, the Groove also comes with headlights that automatically dim or brighten, depending on the situation. And yes, the car has an assortment of driver assistive features that help mitigate or prevent a crash. These include automatic emergency braking, as well as lane warning and departure prevention systems.

So, with all its style and features, is the Chevrolet Groove’s P1.15-million introductory price point worth it? To us, it’s a yes. But you better consider soon because Chevrolet Philippines says that the regular price of the Groove is at P1,268,000. That’s around P112,000 price difference.
