Chinese car brand Changan, through its official local distributor, Inchcape Philippines, has expanded its electrified lineup with the launch of the all-new Changan Nevo A05 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Previewed during this year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), the A05 is the brand’s latest entry in the growing hybrid sedan market.

The A05 is part of the brand’s “101 series,” its mid-range electric vehicle (EV) line that boasts simplicity, intelligence, user-friendliness, and future-forward engineering. As such, it continues Changan’s 2025 rollout of electrified vehicles, rounding out its offerings for Filipino motorists seeking an ideal ride that balances efficiency, performance, and everyday practicality.

At the heart of the A05 is a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). This powertrain enables the A05 to deliver 212 hp and 330 Nm of torque. Moreover, the hybridized setup offers multiple drive modes, including pure battery-electric EV (BEV), hybrid (PHEV), and range-extender (REEV), along with selectable Eco, Normal, Sport, and Custom settings.

According to Changan, the A05’s 18.4 kWh battery pack provides 130 km of all-electric driving range, while its combined driving range is rated at 1,250 km, numbers that the brand claims to be among the most efficient in its class.

Exterior-wise, the A05 presents a minimalist aesthetic, characterized by sharp lines and premium finishes. As a vehicle designed for daily use, the A05 comes equipped with LED headlights, taillights, and daytime running lights. One notable feature of the headlights is the follow-me-home function, which briefly keeps the lights on after the engine is turned off to illuminate the driver’s path. On the side, the A05 flaunts a set of 17-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the A05 offers a straightforward, functional cabin. Highlight features include a 10-inch instrument display and a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The latter supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for seamless connectivity. Moreover, it features rear air vents, a 6-speaker audio system, and a moonroof for enhanced cabin illumination in low-light conditions.

Among these are ABS, electronic stability control, traction control, hill hold, tire pressure monitoring, and a full suite of airbags. Additionally, the sedan features a 540-degree camera with 360-degree recording capabilities to capture views from the front, sides, and rear. To assist the driver, the A05 comes with adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane change assist, forward collision warning, and autonomous emergency braking.

For the Philippine market, Changan offers the A05 PHEV in four available colors: White, Cloud Mountain Green, Andes Gray, and Titanium Light Silver Gray. Finally, the hybrid sedan is priced at P1,195,000, with a limited-time cash discount of P55,000 offered until October 31, 2025.
