CAMPI’s confidence grows as September auto sales stabilize

The Philippine automotive industry sustained its growth trajectory in September 2025 as total vehicle sales reached 38,029 units, reflecting a 5.1% increase over August’s performance. According to a joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), the sector’s performance demonstrates improving consumer confidence and market stability.

Year-to-date (YTD) sales reached 343,410 units, nearly matching the 344,307 units sold in the same period last year, or just 0.3% lower. The latest result highlights the market’s resiliency amid evolving economic conditions and its continuing shift towards electrification and commercial mobility.

CAMPI and TMA report that commercial vehicles once again drove the industry’s growth, accounting for 79% of the month’s total sales. The segment grew by 5.2% from August and by 3.4% compared to the same period in 2024, with 30,081 units sold in September. Within this segment, light commercial vehicles (LCV) and multipurpose vehicles (MPV) remain the most in demand among buyers seeking versatility and durability.

Passenger car sales improved slightly in September with a record of 7,948 units, a 4.7% increase vs. August’s record, but remained 23.9% below September 2024’s levels. CAMPI said that YTD sales for the passenger car market dropped 23.6% to 69,306 units, underscoring the ongoing consumer shift towards larger and more practical vehicle types.

Electrified vehicles (EVs) continued their upward trend, registering 6.02% of the market, equivalent to 20,662 units sold from January to September. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) dominated the segment with 16,335 units sold, followed by battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) at 3,657 units and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) at 670 units. EV sales in September topped at 2,223 units, nearly matching August’s record.

According to CAMPI and TMA, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) remained the dominant market leader, with a 47.99% market share, having sold a total of 164,797 units since January 2025. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) is next with 19.05%. Ford Philippines slots in third with a 4.86% market share, followed by Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI) with 4.84%, and Suzuki Philippines, Inc. with 4.77%.
