ACMobility, the official Philippine distributor of BYD vehicles, is reinforcing its push toward electric mobility. Case in point: BYD Cars Philippines recently previewed two new electrified models, the Atto 2 and the Sealion 7, ahead of their respective official launches, signaling the Chinese brand’s growing confidence in the local market.
The BYD Atto 2 is a compact electric crossover tailored for urban families, It combines practical dimensions with a modern, youthful design. The model aims to offer an accessible entry point into EV mobility without compromising on everyday usability. Within the Atto 2 is BYD’s Blade Battery technology, known for its durability and safety.
It delivers 134 hp and 290 Nm of torque to the front wheels. It is powered by a 51.1 kWh Blade Battery, with an estimated range of around 345 km. Dimension-wise, it measures about 4,310 mm long, 1,830 mm wide, and 1,675 mm tall, with a 2,620 mm wheelbase, making it well-suited for city use.
At the other end of the spectrum is the BYD Sealion 7. It represents BYD’s push into the premium EV space. The Sealion 7 is designed as a performance-oriented electric SUV, which features an all-wheel-drive system, a sleek aerodynamic profile, and a technology-focused cabin equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems. The model underscores BYD’s intent to make its presence felt in higher-value segments while maintaining its reputation for innovation.
It features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system, delivering stronger power output and improved traction. Its architecture focuses on a more advanced EV platform, integrating high-capacity battery packs for extended range and faster charging capability. Powering the Sealion 7 is a 82.5 kWh Blade Battery, with a range of up to 540 km, depending on configuration. Performance figures include 0 to 100 km/h acce;eration rate in as quick as 4.5 seconds, placing it firmly in the performance EV category.
Supporting these new EV models is ACMobility’s rapidly growing EV charging infrastructure. Of note, the Ayala-backed company has built over 160 charging locations nationwide as part of its Philippine EV Spine initiative, addressing one of the biggest concerns among potential EV buyers; range anxiety. The integrated ecosystem includes digital platforms and support systems designed to make EV ownership more seamless.
To demonstrate the validity of EV mobility in the Philippines, BYD recently completed a cross-country drive covering over 100 cities from Northern Luzon to Mindanao. The cross-country drive involved 20 BYD electrified units. The feat earned BYD Cars Philippines two Guinness World Records — the most cities visited in a continuous journey by a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and the most cities visited in a continuous journey by a battery-electric vehicle (BEV).

With two official Guinness World Records in the bag, BYD Cars Philippines is surely on a high roll this year. Its move to introduce the Atto 2 and the Sealion 7 proves this, and is a testament that the Philippine market is ready to go electric. But more importantly, the company’s investment in charging infrastructure and real-world validation through a nationwide drive addresses the practical concerns that often hold buyers back.
The challenge now lies in consistency – maintaining infrastructure growth, after-sales support, and competitive pricing. If BYD sustains this momentum, it could help the country ease into electrified mobility at a fast, smooth pace.
