BMW Philippines, under its official local distributor, SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation (SMCACD), is entering a new era. Effective September 1, 2025, Jacob Ang will steer the German brand to wider roads as he assumes the position of its new President.
Those who’ve been watching the local motoring industry know that Jacob is no stranger to the business. That’s because he’s the son of Ramon S. Ang, the President and Chief Executive Officer (SEO) of the San Miguel Corporation (SMC), and the owner of SMCACD.
As such, Ramon placed high confidence in Jacob, believing the young leader has what it takes to secure BMW’s operations in the Philippines and continue the exemplary leadership demonstrated by his predecessor, Spencer Yu. For the past seven years, Yu laid the groundwork for BMW Philippines’ road to success, strengthening its presence in the premium market, expanding the brand’s model lineup, and introducing electrified BMW models into the market.

“Jacob’s leadership and fresh perspective will help us further strengthen BMW’s presence in the Philippines. We have built a strong foundation over the years, and with his energy and vision, I am confident he will take the brand further and create even more value for our customers,” shared Ramon S. Ang.
Ramon’s statement is solidified with Jacob’s fresh but solid experience in the industry. Under Ramon’s guidance and with the support of BMW’s business mentorship experience, led by Spencer Yu, Jacob has been closely involved in SMCACD’s initiatives to modernize operations and enhance the customer experience in recent years. His appointment signals continuity, as well as a fresh direction for the brand.
Additionally, Jacob’s appointment comes at the right time, as local demand for luxury and premium vehicles is growing, driven by the rising economy and increasing interest in electrified mobility. Looking back, BMW was one of the first luxury car brands to introduce a plug-in hybrid model in the Philippines, in the form of the 2022 BMW 7 Series 754Le Pure Excellence, a hybridized version of the BMW 7 Series.
“This is an exciting time for our industry and for BMW in the Philippines. My priority is to build on what we do best – drive innovation in how we serve our customers, and strengthen BMW’s position as the leader in premium mobility in the country,” said Jacob Ang.
As BMW Philippines’ new President, Jacob Ang is expected to lead the company’s efforts in strengthening its product lineup, expanding its service network, and enhancing its digital and customer engagement platforms.
