VinFast is putting its electric MPV in the spotlight as the VinFast VF MPV 7 takes on official fleet duties for the 44th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM44) and its Associated Meetings, being held from October 5 to 8, 2026.
Eleven units of the seven-seat electric MPV will transport delegates from ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners during the four-day gathering. The meetings bring together energy ministers, senior government officials, international organizations and other stakeholders to discuss regional cooperation on energy security, clean energy, efficiency, infrastructure and the transition toward more sustainable energy systems.
For VinFast, the assignment puts one of its newest Philippine-market models in an environment where electric mobility is very much a vital part of the conversation.
The VF MPV 7 was launched in the Philippines in May and is positioned as a premium electric seven-seater aimed at Filipino families. It features three rows of seating and up to 1,240 liters of cargo capacity, giving it the practicality expected from a family-oriented MPV while replacing a conventional gasoline or diesel powertrain with a fully electric setup.

Power comes from a 150-kW electric motor producing 280 Nm of torque. The MPV is equipped with a 60.13-kWh battery, with VinFast claiming a range of up to 450 km on a full charge based on the NEDC testing standard.
The company says using the VF MPV 7 as the official electric vehicle fleet demonstrates the practicality of battery electric vehicles for real-world transportation. It also gives VinFast an opportunity to showcase its electric mobility technology to regional delegates at an event focused heavily on the future of energy.
The ASEAN Energy Business Forum, held alongside the ministerial meetings, will further address clean energy, sustainable mobility, emerging technologies, investment and infrastructure development. These discussions are increasingly relevant as Southeast Asian countries work toward meeting rising energy demand while reducing emissions.
VinFast’s participation also comes as the company continues expanding its presence across Southeast Asia. Beyond its vehicles, the automaker says it is developing an integrated ecosystem covering charging infrastructure, ownership and aftersales support.
The use of the VF MPV 7 at AMEM44 is therefore more than a fleet deployment. It provides a high-profile demonstration of how electric vehicles can already serve as practical people movers for official events, while putting VinFast’s Philippine seven-seater in front of an audience directly involved in shaping the region’s energy future.

Autocar’s Take
Using the VinFast VF MPV 7 as the official fleet for AMEM44 is a timely showcase for electric mobility. The vehicle is being placed in front of people who are directly involved in shaping Southeast Asia’s energy policies, so the symbolism is hard to miss. More importantly, the assignment shows that an electric MPV can handle the everyday demands of transporting passengers without being treated as an experimental technology.
The VF MPV 7’s seven-seat layout, useful cargo capacity and claimed 450-km range give it the credentials for this role. Whether that translates into broader EV adoption remains the bigger question.
