Chinese smart electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng is officially entering the Philippine market in the third quarter of 2026, marking another milestone in its continued expansion across Southeast Asia. The company confirmed that it will begin local operations through Xpeng Philippines, a direct subsidiary that will oversee its presence in the country.

The Philippine expansion is part of Xpeng’s strategy to strengthen its footprint in Southeast Asia while supporting the country’s shift toward cleaner mobility. The company said it aims to offer Filipino motorists premium electric vehicles equipped with artificial intelligence technologies designed to deliver a more intelligent driving experience.

Founded as a technology-driven automotive company, Xpeng has built its reputation around developing smart EVs powered by its own in-house technologies. These include its full-stack advanced driver-assistance system, intelligent in-car operating system, and other core vehicle technologies that underpin its connected and software-focused approach to mobility.

Beyond manufacturing electric vehicles, Xpeng positions itself as an AI and technology company focused on shaping the future of transportation through innovation. Its global expansion has accelerated in recent years as demand for intelligent electric vehicles continues to grow across multiple regions.

The company currently operates in more than 60 countries and regions spanning Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Oceania, and Latin America. Its international network includes more than 380 overseas stores, supported by regional hubs in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Thailand, and Mexico.

For its local debut, Xpeng will launch two smart EV models, although the company has yet to reveal which vehicles will make up its initial lineup. More details, including specifications, pricing, and launch schedules, are expected closer to the official market introduction.

Moreover, while Xpeng has yet to announce dealership locations, retail partners, or after-sales plans for the Philippines, its arrival adds another global electric vehicle brand to the country’s increasingly competitive EV landscape. Consumers can expect more information in the coming months as the company prepares for its official launch.

With its focus on AI-powered smart EVs and connected vehicle technologies, Xpeng’s Philippine debut signals another step in the growing availability of advanced electric mobility options for Filipino buyers exploring the transition to electrified transportation.

Autocar’s Take

Xpeng’s arrival in the Philippines is another sign that the local EV market is steadily maturing. More importantly, it introduces another technology-focused brand that emphasizes software, AI, and intelligent driving alongside electrification. While the company has yet to reveal the two smart EV models headed here, competition typically benefits consumers through better products and wider choices. The real test, however, will extend beyond the vehicles themselves. A reliable dealer network, strong aftersales support, and accessible charging solutions will ultimately determine whether Xpeng Philippines can establish itself as a serious contender in the country’s growing smart EV market.
