SAIC Motor Philippines Inc., the official distributor of MG vehicles in the country, has officially started handing over MG G50 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) units to the first batch of owners. MG Philippines held a ceremonial turnover at its Alabang dealership, which also marked the start of the G50 PHEV’s retail sales.

The turnover ceremony was held at MG Alabang, where the car brand handed over the G50 PHEV units to Mauro Cortez and Reginald Gregorio. MG said that Cortez, a business owner, plans to use the G50 PHEV for his furniture business operations, while Gregorio intends to use the vehicle to better accommodate his family on everyday trips. Cortez and Gregorio formally received the keys to their respective brand-new MG G50 PHEV, becoming among the first owners of MG’s newest plug-in hybrid MPV in the Philippines.

“This turnover represents an exciting milestone for MG Motor Philippines as we begin delivering the G50 PHEV to our customers,” said MG Motor Philippines President Wei Wei Zhang.

“We are encouraged by the positive response to this model, and we remain committed to providing Filipino motorists with innovative mobility solutions that combine performance, efficiency, and everyday usability,” Zhang added.

MG PH shared that the MG G50 PHEV generated a lot of market interest, securing over 800 reservations in April 2026. The car brand noted that the strong initial demand for the MG G50 PHEV shows the local market’s growing interest in new energy vehicles, particularly those that offer “both practicality and versatility for everyday use.”

The MG G50 PHEV is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with a dedicated hybrid transmission, delivering a combined output of 299 hp and 280 Nm of torque. The PHEV system allows for up to 95 kilometers of pure electric driving, while a total combined range of up to 1,415 kilometers provides flexibility for longer trips.

The G50 PHEV’s spacious cabin comes with second-row captain seats and a three-seater third row that can be folded 60:40 in case you need to make room for more storage. That said, MG shares that the G50 PHEV has 406 liters of cargo space when the third row seats are up. Once folded, the cargo space increases to 1,162 liters. It also has a panoramic sunroof, roof-mounted rear aircon vents, a 360-degree-view camera, parking sensors, and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

Autocar’s Take

MG Philippines has officially started turning over the first batch of MG G50 PHEV units to customers, and it even held a ceremony for it at its Alabang dealership. This shows the value that MG PH is putting on its G50 PHEV model, which has been received positively by the local market based on the reports shared by the car brand.

The G50 PHEV is an MPV that promises efficient drives, while being integrated with smart and modern tech. As such, it allowed the G50 PHEV to gain the attention of the consumers, and it also translated positively to MG’s business in the Philippines. If all goes well, the MG 50 PHEV could be one of the sales drivers for MG in the local market.
