The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) has reinforced its operational resilience. The transportation hub announced its continued reliance on renewable energy while implementing additional measures to ensure a continuous power supply and uninterrupted service to commuters.
In a statement dated March 31, 2026, PITX confirmed that it continues to operate on 100% renewable energy, sourced from geothermal power supplied by First Gen Corporation. The move positions the country’s first landport as a stable, sustainable transport hub amid evolving national energy conditions.
While no widespread power interruptions have been mandated, PITX said it has taken proactive steps to safeguard operations. These include the deployment of backup systems, strengthened coordination with transport operators, and improved passenger support services across the terminal.

PITX Chief Operating Officer Mohit Malhi emphasized that operational continuity remains a priority, anchored on both stability and sustainability. The use of geothermal energy, a locally produced renewable resource, allows the terminal to maintain consistent service while contributing to environmental goals.
Beyond energy resilience, PITX is also advancing cleaner mobility within its premises through the introduction of Xpress EV, an electric-powered transport option for commuters. The onboarding of Xpress EV complements the terminal’s renewable energy usage and supports efforts to reduce emissions in the public transport sector.
“By utilizing geothermal energy, PITX can maintain continuous service. Integrating renewable energy with electric mobility allows us to future-proof the commuter experience. At PITX, sustainability and service reliability go hand in hand,” Malhi added.
As a major international hub connecting provincial buses, city routes, jeepneys, and rail systems, PITX plays an important role in facilitating commuter movement in Metro Manila. Its continued investment in sustainable infrastructure highlights the company’s push toward a low-carbon transport ecosystem.
According to PITX, it will continue to monitor developments in the energy sector and maintain coordination with government agencies to ensure reliable and efficient service. The transport terminal operator reiterates its mission to deliver a seamless commuting experience while supporting long-term sustainability objectives.

Autocar’s Take
PITX’s shift to 100% renewable energy is more than a sustainability milestone. It is a logical response to the realities of energy uncertainty. By securing geothermal power and reinforcing contingency systems, PITX reduces the risk of operational disruption in a sector where even a short downtime largely affects thousands of commuters. The inclusion of Xpress EVs within its premises also signals a more integrated approach to transport modernization.
These efforts are encouraging, though their impact will hinge on how well they are sustained and expanded over time. At this stage, PITX is a solid example of how transport infrastructure in the Philippines can be built and improved upon with resilience in mind.
