Volvo Cars Philippines has achieved a milestone in consumer aftersales service after earning official Volvo Personal Service (VPS) certification. This marks the first time the Scandinavian carmaker’s global program has been implemented in the country.

The certification was secured by Hariphil Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the exclusive local distributor of Volvo vehicles, following a comprehensive training and evaluation process conducted in partnership with Volvo’s global training team. The program aligns local service operations with Volvo’s worldwide standards to reinforce the brand’s customer relationship and ownership satisfaction.

The VPS represents a shift from traditional dealership service structures toward a more personalized and streamlined ownership experience. Under the VPS system, each Volvo owner is assigned a dedicated Personal Service Technician responsible for managing the vehicle’s service journey from appointment booking and maintenance work to invoicing and follow-up communication.

According to Volvo, the new aftersales service model strengthens customer trust by ensuring continuity throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle. By working with the same technician over time, customers benefit from shorter wait times, greater efficiency, and a deeper understanding of both driver preferences and vehicle history.

The VPS certification followed rigorous preparation, equipping local technicians with the skills and processes required to meet Volvo’s global benchmarks. All participating service personnel successfully completed the program, representing a professional milestone for the individuals and the company’s aftersales operations.

Maria Fe Perez-Agudo, HARI Vice Chairman, President, and CEO, went on to say, “Earning this certification is both an honor and a responsibility. It reinforces our commitment to keeping our clients safe while continuously investing in the growth of our service personnel. Through the VPS program, Volvo Cars Philippines strengthens a balanced and sustainable Volvo ecosystem, one where people, standards, and care move forward together.”

Agudo’s statement holds true, now that the global certification is in place. Anchoring from this achievement, Volvo Cars Philippines aims to further strengthen its relationship with its car buyers and owners, aligning local operations with the Swedish company’s global standards. Moving forward, customers can expect a world-class service from Volvo Cars Philippines.

Autocar’s Take

Volvo Cars Philippines’ adoption of Volvo Personal Service is a notable evolution in how premium brands approach vehicle ownership here in the country. Normally, the industry focuses on product launches and technological showcases, but the reality today is that aftersales is increasingly becoming the true measure of customer satisfaction. On the surface, assigning a dedicated service technician to a Volvo owner may seem simple, but it addresses common frustrations many Filipino owners face – inconsistent service communication and long waiting times.

As the local market matures and buyers become more discerning, programs like the Volvo Personal Service could set new expectations for dealership and aftersales service standards. Hopefully, this initiative from Volvo encourages other car brands in the Philippines to invest more seriously in customer care beyond the showroom premises.
