Mercedes-Benz Philippines has introduced its latest entry in the electrified luxury segment. Meet the Mercedes-Benz GLE 400e, a 5-seat SUV that combines performance, efficiency, and premium comfort in a sleek plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) package, priced at P5,790,000.

The GLE 400e arrives with a distinctive AMG Line exterior. The front end features a diamond grille design with the Mercedes-Benz insignia in chrome as the centerpiece. This is flanked by a pair of multi-beam LED headlights that automatically adapt to varying road and traffic conditions for optimal visibility.

In profile, the GLE 400e presents an athletic stance, highlighted by smooth character lines and a set of 21-inch AMG alloy wheels. The rear, meanwhile, gets a pair of sharp-looking LED taillights, a sculpted bumper, and a chrome garnish that brings visual focus to a pair of stylish exhaust tips below, also finished in chrome.

Comfort comes courtesy of upholstered seats made with synthetic materials such as artico leather and microcut microfiber surfaces. Moreover, the front and rear seats feature power adjustment capabilities and memory foam to accommodate every occupant’s comfort level. For entertainment, a premium surround sound audio system comes standard.

The SUV also integrates driver-assistance tech designed for both on- and off-road use. Among these is a feature called “Transparent Bonnet,” which helps drivers see potential obstacles when navigating uneven terrain. For city driving, the GLE 400e features active parking assist and a 360-degree camera, providing easier and safer navigation in tight spaces. For safety, the SUV is equipped with a Pre-Safe system, which automatically prepares the vehicle and occupants in the event of an imminent collision. It also has active brake assist to help avoid or mitigate potential accidents.

At the core of the GLE 400e is a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. This combines a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor, producing 252 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Onboard is an 11 KW battery which can be charged using AC outlets. This allows the SUV to run in pure electric mode for more than 100 km. The GLE 400e also features the brand’s 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, providing stable traction on various roads. This is enhanced by selectable drive modes ranging from efficiency-focused settings for city driving to sport-oriented options for open highways.

To mark the debut, Mercedes-Benz Philippines will display the GLE 400e PHEV, along with the GLC 350, at the South Court of the Rockwell Powerplant Mall in Makati. The exhibit will run from September 26 to 28, 2025.
