Geely Auto has announced that its all-electric SUV, the EX5, will roll out its first major global upgrade. Slated to go live between mid-August and September, these updates are focused on improving the electric SUV’s connectivity and safety features, as well as its capability to cater to a wider range of users around the world.
The update covers three main areas. First of which is the integration of Apple CarPlay, now with added support for steering wheel voice control buttons and one-touch activation. With this update, drivers will now be able to use voice commands for navigation, dialing, and music control. Additionally, this new technology for the EX5 extends its compatibility to major audio streaming platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify.
Meanwhile, the second update is the refinement of its Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS), which operates as a safety feature at low speeds. This is essentially a system that alerts drivers and pedestrians to the EX5’s presence.
According to Geely, this update changes the alert sound to a more distinctive warning tone, allowing pedestrians to better recognize when the EX5 is approaching. At the same time, the updated system lowers the pedestrian alert sound heard from inside the cabin. With this update, Geely was able to find the balance between pedestrian safety and a more pleasant cabin noise.

The third enhancement is the expansion of the Geely EX5’s language support. This enhances the EX5’s ability to communicate with drivers using simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, and Polish languages, while also further improving English and other existing language functions. This update bridges the gap between the EX5’s systems and more global users.
Wondering how Geely will roll out these updates to all its EX5 units worldwide? Geely addresses this question by utilizing the EX5 to showcase its global intelligent energy architecture (GEA) system. The EX5 comes with this system and is enhanced with another feature called GEEA 3.0 electronic and electrical architecture. These systems basically act as channels or mediums that Geely can use to easily update all of its EX5 units’ software in the world.
The Geely EX5 is available in the Philippines with a starting price of P949,000 according to Geely Motor Philippines’ website. Recently launched in July 2025, the model has yet to gain traction in the market, and a pack of significant updates could be on its way soon.
