EVAP & Bataan LGU forge partnership to advance EV integration

The Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP), spearheaded by President Edmund Araga and Executive Director Dr. Manny Biona, recently engaged in a strategic dialogue with Congressman Abet Garcia of Bataan to discuss critical economic advancements and the province’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Roadmap. This pivotal meeting centered on evaluating Bataan’s public transportation system and the Metro Bataan Development Authority’s (MBDA) operations, underscoring the province’s dedication to fostering cleaner and more efficient public transportation programs.

The discussions delved into Bataan’s current and prospective strategies for incorporating electric vehicles into its public transit network. This endeavor aligns with the broader EV Roadmap, aiming to curtail carbon emissions, boost energy efficiency, and champion sustainable transportation solutions in the region.

The meeting also reviewed the operations of the Metro Bataan Development Authority, focusing on how electric vehicles can improve the efficiency and sustainability of public transportation services in the region. Both parties pledged to continue working closely to ensure the successful execution of the EV Roadmap and to explore further opportunities for economic growth and environmental stewardship.

These initiatives and collaborations are part of the preparations for the upcoming Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit, slated for October 24-26, 2024, at the SMX Convention Center in Manila. The summit aims to gather industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in the EV landscape.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the partnership, EVAP President Edmund Araga remarked, “Bataan’s forward-thinking approach to enhancing its public transportation infrastructure is truly admirable. We are eager to support their initiatives and collaborate on creating a cleaner, more efficient transportation system that benefits both the environment and the local economy.”

Executive Director Dr. Manny Biona emphasized the potential impact of these advancements, stating, “Integrating electric vehicles into Bataan’s public transportation system marks a significant milestone towards achieving sustainable urban mobility. By harnessing cutting-edge EV technologies, Bataan can set a precedent for other provinces in the Philippines.”

Congressman Abet Garcia reiterated the province’s commitment to sustainability, saying, “Bataan is dedicated to pioneering cleaner and more efficient public transportation solutions. Our collaboration with EVAP will enable us to develop and implement programs that align with our environmental goals and economic development plans.”
