Volvo EX30, XC90 PHEV win notable design awards

Hariphil Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Volvo Cars in the Philippines, celebrates the accolades received by the EX30 and the XC90 PHEV. The two Volvo vehicles managed to bag notable design awards, further reinforcing Volvo’s commitment to delivering top-notch design, innovation, and automotive safety.  

HARI said that the design awards given to the Volvo EX30 and XC90 PHEV show the Swedish car brand’s dedication to developing vehicles that prioritize sustainability, performance, and an exceptional ownership experience. 

The Volvo EX30, which is a fully electric vehicle (EV), has been honored with the prestigious Good Design Award 2025. The Good Design Awards are among the oldest and most respected design recognitions in the world, highlighting excellence in design, innovation, and sustainability.  

“We are honored to see our SUV compact electric recognized by the jury. The EX30 was designed to be our most sustainable car to date, without compromising the premium experience and safety our customers expect. Compact yet mighty, its smart Scandinavian design conveys confidence, maturity, and versatility, while making it instantly recognizable as a Volvo,” said Volvo Cars Head of CMF Design Rekha Meena.

The Volvo EX30 was first introduced in the Philippines in 2024. It delivers 272 horsepower and 343 Nm of torque, and can go from zero to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. Design-wise, it exemplifies the brand’s commitment to sustainability, being manufactured in a climate-neutral facility and featuring eco-friendly materials in its construction.

On the other hand, the Volvo XC90 has been named Best Luxury SUV in its category at Australia’s Drive Car of the Year 2026 Awards. HARI said that the XC90 stood out in the said category due to its exceptional safety technologies, refined craftsmanship, and family-focused practicality. HARI added that the judges were particularly impressed with its premium design, advanced features, and dynamic driving capability, especially in the top-spec Ultra T8 Plug-in Hybrid variant.

The Volvo XC90 PHEV T8 is available in the Philippines. It has a claimed capability to deliver up to 77 kilometers of electric-only driving range. Volvo said that the XC90’s “combination of electric capability, strong power output, and Scandinavian elegance” allows it to be a “truly versatile premium SUV.”
