ToyotaPH, Carlos Yulo inspire young athletes in “Start Your Impossible” Gymnastics Camp

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), in partnership with world-class Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo, successfully hosted the “Start Your Impossible” Gymnastics Camp on November 15-16, 2024. Held at the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) MVPSF Gym, the two-day event aimed to inspire and empower young gymnasts, underscoring Yulo’s dedication to giving back to the community.

As a Global Team Toyota Athlete (GTTA), Yulo led the training sessions alongside his coaching team, headed by GAP coach Aldrin Castañeda. This initiative is part of Toyota’s global “Start Your Impossible” campaign, which supports athletes in achieving excellence while advocating for social good. For Yulo, this translates into championing youth development through sports training and promoting food security.

The camp welcomed 30 young gymnasts aged 7 to 16 from Metro Manila, Davao, and Cebu, who participated in three intensive training sessions. They also gained valuable insights from sports nutritionist Jeanette Aro, reinforcing the importance of proper nutrition in athletic success.

“Under Toyota’s Start Your Impossible campaign, I embrace my role as a Dual Hero—not just to compete and win but also to uplift and mentor the next generation of athletes,” Yulo shared. “This Gymnastics Clinic and Nutritional Lecture are big steps towards fulfilling this mission.”

TMP President Masando Hashimoto commended the young participants, saying, “To our future champions and medalists, congratulations on completing the TOYOTA START YOUR IMPOSSIBLE GYMNASTICS CAMP. You’ve trained with the Philippines’ best gymnast—an experience we hope will inspire you always.”

Participants like Caila, Ysa, and Eauline expressed their excitement about the camp. “We learned so much from Carlos, and it will definitely help us in our upcoming competitions,” Ysa said. Caila added, “It’s a dream come true to train with him. We hope to follow in his footsteps and represent the Philippines internationally.”
