For healthcare professionals, time is gold, especially the time spent traveling to and from any location where their services are needed. To the greatest extent possible, healthcare workers should have no stress regarding transportation, allowing them to arrive on time and fully energized to serve.

In this regard, the Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF), in partnership with the Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation (TMP Foundation) and the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), has recently launched a dedicated shuttle service aimed at easing the daily commute of healthcare professionals.

The initiative is part of the Healthcare Mobility For All (HEAL) program, which aims to provide safer and more reliable transportation for healthcare workers, particularly those working late-night or early morning shifts when public transportation is limited or uncertain.

To address the concern, Toyota has fielded three units of the Toyota Tamaraw, which the brand designed to ferry PGH healthcare workers. These Tamaraw shuttles will operate along PGH’s busiest commuting route, such as Fairview, Paliparan, and SM Dasma via Aguinaldo. Each Tamaraw shuttle can accommodate 12 passengers, and is expected to make at least two trips daily – one for staff heading home after late shifts and another for those reporting early in the morning.

The shuttle service, which will run from September 2025 to December 2026, is designed to improve accessibility for PGH workers while ensuring punctuality for critical shifts. According to Toyota, this program is projected to provide thousands of safe commutes during its run, while also reducing travel time, operating costs, and vehicle emissions.

Aside from easing commutes, the program is expected to enhance safety and convenience, particularly for individuals with limited mobility options during the night or early morning hours. Toyota states that reliable transportation is viewed as a means to support PGH staff in maintaining their performance in high-demand hospital environments, enabling them to focus fully on patient care.

The initiative is made possible with the support of several partners – Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines serves as the mobility partner, Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation as the engagement partner, and the Deloitte Future of Mobility Solution Centre as the development and implementation partner.
