Tesla won’t like the Volvo EX30’s new pricing

Volvo EX30

Late last year, Volvo introduced a subcompact electrified SUV in the Philippine market. Through the brand’s official local distributor, Hariphil Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), Volvo brought in the EX30. Eight months since then, Volvo Philippines has kept this new model fresh. In fact, Volvo Philippines just made a price adjustment to the EX30 – and it’s now more affordable than ever.

The Scandinavian carmaker now sells the Volvo EX30 Ultra RWD Pure Electric at a much lower sticker price of P2,690,000. That’s around P300,000 lower than its previous mark at P2,990,000. Even better, the company announced an entry-level variant to the EX30 nameplate. Known as the Volvo EX30 Core RWD Pure Electric, this new variant is priced at P2,350,000.

With this good news, the EX30 can be experienced by more people at a price point that’s more enticing, whether they choose the EX30 Ultra or the new EX30 Core.

Despite the slashed price and the option to choose a lower variant, Volvo Philippines reassures that everything the EX30 is liked for is still present across the range. This includes the 272 hp electric motor that drives the rear wheels with a pulling power of 343 Nm. The two EX30 variants also retain an acceleration rate of 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds.

Volvo Philippines says that the entry-level EX30 records an EV range of 475 km, while the EX30 Ultra still tops out at 540 km of usable EV range.

Volvo also didn’t skimp on equipping both variants with standard features. These include a premium audio system, a climate system with air quality monitoring, and a cargo space of 318 liters. Fold down the rear seats, and that would increase up to 904 liters.

Volvo says the EX30 was built with sustainability in mind, incorporating recycled metals and plastics. It’s produced in a facility powered by climate-neutral energy. But most importantly, Volvo loaded both EX30 variants with a host of safety features, reflecting the brand’s “Being alive” occupant and pedestrian safety priority philosophy.

Some of these life-saving features include pilot assist, a system that automatically manages speed and distance while providing the driver with steering assistance. This runs together with the driver attention monitoring system, which alerts the driver if it senses fatigue or loss of concentration. Also, there’s the collision avoidance system that warns the driver of potential impact. If need be, it even overrides the driver, automatically applying braking or steering inputs to avoid a hit.

With the EX30 Ultra at a lower price and the introduction of the entry-level EX30 Core, Volvo Philippines just made the nameplate even more appealing to people on the lookout for a more sustainable and safety-focused ride.
