Omoda and Jaecoo’s Super Hybrid System (SHS) has put up an impressive long-distance result, with the Omoda 5 Next SHS-H recording a combined driving range of 1,015 kilometers and fuel consumption of 4.5 liters per 100 kilometers during an endurance marathon in China.
Held October 21-22 in Wuhu as part of the company’s 2026 International User Summit, the Super Hybrid Marathon covered approximately 600 kilometers of city streets, expressways and mountain roads. The exercise was designed to evaluate how the brand’s hybrid technology performs under different driving conditions.
According to Omoda and Jaecoo, the Omoda 5 Next SHS-H was joined by the Omoda 4 SHS-H and Omoda 7 SHS-H during the test. The route began with congested city traffic, where frequent acceleration and braking challenged the vehicles’ powertrains. The Omoda 5 Next SHS-H used its dedicated 1.5-liter turbocharged hybrid engine to deliver responsive power while keeping energy consumption in check.
The vehicles then tackled the Hangzhou-Changsha Expressway, where sustained highway driving tested their long-distance cruising capabilities. Omoda and Jaecoo reported a 0-100-km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds for the Omoda 5 Next SHS-H.

The final leg involved winding mountain roads, with steep climbs and successive corners testing power delivery and handling. The vehicle also featured Eco and Sport driving modes, Level 2 driving assistance and 19 advanced driver assistance systems.
Beyond the endurance results, Omoda and Jaecoo reported cumulative worldwide sales of more than 1.4 million vehicles across 79 markets, supported by over 1,700 showrooms. New energy vehicles accounted for 81% of the company’s reported sales.

Autocar’s Rake
The 1,015-kilometer result is certainly an interesting talking point for Omoda and Jaecoo, particularly as Filipino buyers become more familiar with hybrid technology. What matters, however, is how these figures translate into everyday driving, where traffic, road conditions and individual driving habits can affect fuel consumption.
The Super Hybrid Marathon gives the company an opportunity to demonstrate what its technology can do under varied conditions. Meanwhile, the OJ Discovery Tour at SM North EDSA gives prospective buyers a chance to examine the actual vehicles, compare powertrain options and decide which electrified SUV best suits their needs.
