Nissan just unveiled all-new 2026 LEAF

Nissan recently made headlines as they brought out a series of images showing a pre-production model of their popular LEAF small EV. According to Nissan, the full-production model is slated to arrive later this year.

Style-wise, the 2026 LEAF sports a sleeker, more aerodynamic design. With its sharp-looking fascia, smooth-flowing silhouette, and catchy small design details, among others, the 2026 LEAF stands out as one of the liveliest-looking EVs today. But the looks are just the tip of the iceberg for this small Japanese electric crossover.

According to Nissan, the 2026 LEAF’s focal point is its long range and quick-charging capabilities. Within the 2026 LEAF is a new 75-kWh, liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack which runs a 214hp electric motor. Nissan was able to configure the 2026 LEAF to be able to charge quickly from 10% power to 80% in just 30 minutes with a Level 3 charger. That’s about as quick as stopping by a fast-food restaurant to have some lunch.

Best part is when fully-charged, Nissan claims the 2026 LEAF to be able to utilize the power for around 303 miles or roughly 483 kms. In Philippine context, a single full charge can be used to travel from Manila to Lucena City in the Quezon Province, and back, with more than enough juice to spare for some quick side trips. Of course, factors such as traffic, road conditions, driving habits, and weather conditions need to be considered.

Nissan says that a 52-Kwh battery pack with a 174hp electric motor will also be offered as an option, but will arrive a little later after launch.

To keep everyone happy in the journey, the 2026 LEAF comes with a dual screen infotainment system in 12.3 inch or 14.3 inch dimensions, depending on the trim level. Moreover, the LEAF variants with the 14.3 inch system carries a set of Bose sound system for that more refined audible experience.

In the local setting, Nissan Philippines is championing their Nissan Intelligent Mobility Tour campaign which showcases the brand’s advanced driving tech, safety features, connectivity tech, and electrification. One of the headline vehicles in the campaign is the current generation Nissan LEAF.

Although the local consumer market has yet to fully-realise the advantages of owning an EV, here’s to hoping that the all-new 2026 Nissan LEAF will help enlighten the market when it arrives, probably next year or if Nissan Philippines sees the feasible chance to bring it in.
