Hyundai has revealed the eighth-generation Elantra (sold as Avante in South Korea) at the 2026 Busan Mobility Show. The all-new Elantra features a sharper and bigger exterior, as well as a refined interior.
As a next-generation model, the all-new 2027 Hyundai Elantra is night and day when compared with the outgoing model. The Elantra comes with a sharper exterior, allowing it to have a futuristic-like design. Hyundai calls the Elantra’s new design the “Art of Steel,” which features a bold front grille, signature H-shaped daytime running lights, and sculpted hood.
Turning at the side, the all-new Hyundai Elantra has crisp character lines along with prominent fender flares. The Korean automaker shared that the Elantra’s side profile, specifically the character and roof lines, is inspired by the N Vision 74 concept car, which expresses a strong sense of forward momentum.
Meanwhile, the low, wide stance gives it an aggressive look on the road. The rear also has an H-Edge lighting design to enhance a sense of unity with the front, while the vertical taillights are said to be inspired by the rear of a fighter jet. The all-new Hyundai Elantra features expanded color options by adding new colors, including Kodiaq Blue Matte, Raptor Grey Matte, and Graphene Green Pearl.

One of the most significant improvements integrated into the next-gen Elantra is its increased dimensions. It now measures 4,765mm in length, 1,855mm in width, 1,425mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,750mm. In particular, the length and wheelbase have increased by 55mm and 30mm, respectively, compared to the previous model, while the width has widened by 30mm.
Inside, it has a light interior trim and features a modern-looking layout. Placed right at the center of the dashboard is a 14.6-inch touchscreen running a smart operating system. Hyundai says it comes built-in with “Gleo AI,” a digital assistant that understands normal human phrasing. As such, the Korean car brand claims that you can talk to it naturally to adjust the air conditioning, look up driving destinations, or check your schedule without taking your eyes off the road.
In terms of safety and tech, the all-new Elantra comes with Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control 2, applied for the first time in a Hyundai vehicle. It is said to have the capability to recognize specific sections, such as speed bumps and intersections on regular roads to automatically decelerate, supporting a more natural and comfortable driving experience.

Hyundai also said that it has introduced a new ‘Electronic Shift Lever P-Stage Emergency Braking Function’, allowing drivers to limit acceleration and decelerate or stop using only the P button on the electronic shift lever in emergencies. Along with this, safety has been improved by extensively equipping the vehicle with the latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including Pedal Misuse Assist (PMSA), Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2), Lane Following Assist 2 (LFA 2), and Forward Collision Avoidance Assist 2 (FCA 2).
The next-gen 2027 Hyundai Elantra comes with two engine options. The first is a 2.0-liter gasoline engine that delivers a maximum output of 149 horsepower, which is 26 horsepower higher than the previous Elantra’s 1.6-liter gasoline engine. On the other hand, the 1.6-liter hybrid engine generates 157 horsepower.
The all-new Hyundai Elantra will go on sale in South Korea in the third quarter of this year. Its global launch has yet to be announced by Hyundai.

Autocar’s Take
The all-new Hyundai Elantra features a sharper, more aggressive exterior yet comes with a refined, futuristic interior. Of all the Elantra models, this eight-generation model is arguably the best looking. Its exterior instantly stands out, and it could go head-to-head with segment rivals such as the Civic and the Corolla Altis.
Hyundai stretched the car’s total length by 55mm and widened its wheelbase by 30mm. Those additional numbers translate directly into comfort, giving rear passengers nearly an inch of extra legroom. As such, its space feels much closer to a mid-size car than a traditional compact sedan.
