The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) has debuted as the most powerful Land Cruiser to date, and it is available in select European markets from January 2026. This also marks the first time that the Land Cruiser 300 is offered with a hybrid powertrain.

The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 hybrid comes with the same exterior design as the current non-hybrid diesel version sold in the Philippines. The only difference the hybrid model has is Toyota’s HEV emblem at the rear, a design detail that’s seen in all Toyota hybrid models, such as the Yaris Cross, Corolla Cross, and the Ativ, among others.

The Euro-spec Toyota Land Cruiser 300 HEV comes with a five-seat interior layout, which results in having a generous cargo space at the rear. It also comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, 14-speaker JBL audio system, and power-adjustable front seats. Toyota noted that the Land Cruiser 300 HEV is also integrated with a new electric power steering, which is said to provide better precision and vehicle control on all types of roads.

Under the hood, the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 HEV is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo gasoline engine with a single motor-generator, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This hybrid powertrain produces 457 horsepower and 790 Nm of torque. Toyota said that the Land Cruiser 300’s torque increased by 20 percent, while the throttle response has improved by 40 percent. The vehicle can also run on its electric motor alone at speeds below 30 km/h.

Toyota added that the Land Cruiser 300 hybrid has undergone extreme testing in challenging environments. The automaker also shared that the waterproofing of the battery housing ensures the Land Cruiser 300’s wading capacity is maintained, which is 700mm.

Locally, Toyota Motor Philippines is offering the Land Cruiser 300, which is powered by a 3.3-liter diesel engine that delivers 302 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and comes with a seating capacity for seven occupants.

Meanwhile, the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 HEV is reportedly included among the recognized electric vehicles of the Department of Energy (DOE). However, as of this writing, a recent check on the DOE’s official website shows that the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 HEV is not yet included in the agency’s list of recognized electric vehicles.

Autocar’s Take

The debut of the Land Cruiser 300 HEV shows Toyota’s commitment to transitioning into new energy vehicles. The good thing about this is that Toyota is continuing to adopt its iconic models, such as the Land Cruiser, in modern times. As a result, we now see the most powerful Land Cruiser to date, which is powered by a hybrid powertrain that delivers 457 horsepower and 790 Nm of torque.

While it is now available in select European markets, Land Cruiser enthusiasts in the Philippines could most likely want to own a hybrid version, and reports about it arriving in the country seem possible.

This is after it was reportedly listed among DOE’s recognized EVs, but as of this writing, the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 EV is not appearing on that list. One of the reasons for this is that Toyota Motor Philippines could be re-applying the said model with a different specification, which is why it has been excluded from the DOE’s list as of this writing.
