Maserati graces Goodwood with the MCPURA Super Sports Car

Maserati presents their latest creation at the Goodwood Festival of Speed It is called the MCPURA, a super sports car offered in both coupé and convertible (Cielo) forms. Building on the foundation laid by the MC20, the MCPURA evolves Maserati’s vision of high-performance motoring through a more refined aesthetic and carefully considered engineering, while retaining the visceral connection between car and driver.

At the heart of the MCPURA is the 3.0-litre V6 Nettuno engine, producing 630 CV and 720 Nm of torque. Its performance credentials are rooted in technology derived from Formula 1, with Maserati’s own pre-chamber combustion system featuring twin spark plugs. This unit remains a centrepiece of their mechanical identity—engineered and built entirely in Modena. With a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, the car weighs less than 1,500 kg, delivering an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 2.33 kg/CV.

The MCPURA’s exterior design refines the original MC20 silhouette, with particular attention paid to detail, proportion, and materials. At Goodwood, Maserati showcased the car in a special Ai Aqua Rainbow finish developed through their Fuoriserie personalisation programme. The tone is designed to react with light, producing subtle colour shifts that mirror the way a prism transforms white light into a spectrum. Matte and gloss applications distinguish the coupé and convertible, respectively. The magenta Trident emblems, infused with blue mica, subtly contrast the bodywork, echoed by accents on the wheels and throughout the interior.

Inside, the cabin continues Maserati’s blend of sport and elegance. The seats are trimmed in Alcantara Ice, laser-etched with the Trident motif and backed with iridescent shades that shift between red and blue, offering a tactile and visual richness that reflects the exterior palette. The effect is understated, yet thoroughly contemporary.

Customisation plays a significant role in the MCPURA experience. In addition to the Ai Aqua Rainbow finish, Maserati introduces three new body colours: Devil Orange, a bold and saturated hue; Verde Royale, a deep, dual-layer green; and Night Interaction, a cooler, more muted tone. These join an extended catalogue of over thirty available finishes under their Fuoriserie programme, encompassing solid, metallic, tri- and quad-coat options.

The convertible version, MCPURA Cielo, features a PDLC glass roof that can switch from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button, offering either a fully enclosed or open-sky driving experience. This versatility complements the car’s twin “Butterfly” doors, which open upward and outward, providing easier access while revealing the structural carbon fibre beneath.

Production of the MCPURA is fully integrated within Maserati’s historic facility on Viale Ciro Menotti in Modena. It is here that the engine is assembled, the bodywork is crafted, and the Fuoriserie customisation is completed. This plant continues to be their centre for innovation and artisanal manufacture—also housing the MC20 GT2 Stradale, and soon, the next-generation GranTurismo and GranCabrio.

With the MCPURA, Maserati reinforces their design and engineering philosophy: performance without ostentation, elegance shaped by tradition, and a focus on mechanical purity; values that continue to define the Trident’s place in modern motoring.
