The JAECOO J7 SHS, the first hybrid SUV from JAECOO Philippines, has secured a prestigious five-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), reinforcing its position as one of the safest vehicles in its class. This marks the second recognition for the J7 SHS this year, following its official range verification by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) in February.

The Euro NCAP assessment evaluates vehicle safety performance in four key areas: adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, vulnerable road user (pedestrian) protection, and safety assist systems.

In adult occupant protection, the J7 SHS achieved an 81% score, with testers noting its stability in frontal offset collisions and effective protection for both the driver’s and passenger’s knees and femurs, regardless of size or seating position. The model also earned 80% in child protection, pedestrian safety, and safety assist performance.

Euro NCAP assessors highlighted the SUV’s intelligent features, such as its responsive autonomous emergency braking system, adaptive lane support, and quick-reacting speed assistance system. The hybrid SUV is further equipped with advanced safety technologies including a DMS Driver Monitoring System, 360° HD panoramic camera with under-chassis view, and Bosch’s IPB intelligent braking system that activates within 0.1 seconds. Six strategically placed airbags enhance occupant protection during collisions.

“The Euro NCAP safety ratings achieved by the JAECOO J7 SHS redefine safety benchmarks in the new energy vehicle segment,” said OMODA & JAECOO Philippines. “With Super Hybrid System (SHS) technology at the core of our innovation, we’re committed to embedding advanced safety throughout every stage of product development. Our aim is to elevate global safety standards and offer intelligent, high-performance mobility for the future.”

Beyond its high safety scores, the J7 SHS is engineered for performance and efficiency. It features a robust hybrid powertrain composed of a 201-hp electric motor, a fifth-generation 1.5L TDGI DHT hybrid engine, and an 18.3 kWh fast-charging lithium-ion battery. Drivers can seamlessly switch between Full Electric, Series Hybrid, Parallel Hybrid, and Regenerative modes across various terrains, including sand and mud.

In an AAP-certified range test, the J7 SHS surpassed expectations, achieving 1,488.8 kilometers on a full tank and a single charge—well beyond its published 1,200+ km range. In pure electric mode, it managed 106 kilometers, offering the option of emission-free long-distance travel.

Locally, the J7 SHS made its debut at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), where it attracted strong interest and early reservations. The model will next be featured at the OMODA and JAECOO Global Conference in Wuhu, China on April 23.

The first batch of units is set to arrive in the Philippines by the end of May and will be available in Comfort and Premium variants, both priced below Php 1.7 million. Interested customers can place their reservations at official dealerships in Pasig, Sta. Rosa, and Cebu.
