Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) has once again shown its commitment to spreading the importance of road safety by conducting the first ‘Kids on Safety’ program at the Tanza Elementary School in Navotas City, Metro Manila.

The said initiative is in partnership with Tamang Ride PH, a road safety advocacy movement. HFI said that the Kids on Safety program is meant to share the importance of road safety with younger children. Kids aged seven to 10 years old participated in the two-weekend activity under the Kids on Safety program. During the event, HFI donated 100 helmets for the kids, which is said to emphasize the importance of discipline and helmet use, educating them about proper safety standards from an early age.

Honda shared that the Kids on Safety program is geared towards teaching its participants the importance of road safety by explaining it through realistic situations. The program was also specifically tailored to suit younger learners by curating it with the guidance of Tamang Ride PH’s Road Safety module. The said module is based on the foundations of the Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC) program.

The road safety programs, along with Honda Sensing driver-assist tech and the safety features available on Honda motorcycles, are in line with the Japanese car brand’s 2050 global safety goal of achieving zero collision fatalities involving any Honda vehicle. The car brand added that as early as 2030, Honda aims to reduce the number of these fatalities by 50 percent.

As such, Honda believes that road safety is a shared goal and should be done as early as possible, whether at home or at school. This ensures that children will grow to be more conscious and mindful, protecting themselves and those around them, according to Honda.

Tamang Ride PH is a nationwide road safety movement dedicated to creating safer roads for everyone, starting with children and new drivers. HFI joined Tamang Ride PH as a ‘Road Safety Ambassador’ in 2025, with HSDC participating in the development of educational materials.

Autocar’s Take

Honda’s commitment to road safety has been highlighted once again through its latest initiative, the Kids on Safety program. Teaching and introducing young children to the concept and importance of road safety would go a long way in producing more courteous motorists. When motorists are courteous, roads will relatively be safer for all road users. It can even lead to the possibility of reducing the road rage cases, which have become more prevalent nowadays.

By integrating the program with real-life scenarios, young children will be able to understand and to hopefully appreciate better the importance of road safety, and by adhering to proper safety standards such as wearing helmets when riding on the road. Afterall, road safety is a shared responsibility.
