Geely is determined to make its cars more efficient and smarter with the launch of its new i-HEV intelligent hybrid technology that’s equipped with artificial intelligence (AI). The Chinese automaker said that its new hybrid tech “redefines hybrid capabilities, [while] delivering exceptional intelligence, world-class fuel efficiency, electric vehicle (EV) like refinement, and enhanced safety.”
Among the standout features of Geely’s new i-HEV intelligent hybrid tech is that it is integrated with Starwise AI Cloud Power 2.0. Through this, its i-HEV tech achieved a Guinness World Record-certified fuel efficiency of 45.01 km/l (or 2.22L/100 km).
Geely added that its i-HEV system was able to yield better efficiency numbers by 10 percent through the help of AI-based energy management, which Geely calls AI Cloud Power. As such, the Chinese car brand said that its new i-HEV intelligent hybrid tech comes with an energy thermal efficiency of 48.41 percent. As a rule of thumb, higher thermal efficiency means better performance and less wasted energy.
The i-HEV tech comes with a full-domain AI 2.0 tech, which was revealed last January 2026 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The AI 2.0 tech enables different vehicle components, such as the cockpit, chassis, safety systems, and driving functions, to exchange data and interact with each other in real-time. Geely said that vehicles can coordinate actions more efficiently, as the new AI tech can integrate data into a central intelligent system, resulting in smoother operation and more responsive behavior.

By strategically decoupling the engine and the electric motor, the i-HEV transitions away from an “engine-centric” model to a motor-led layout, according to Geely. As a result, the car brand’s i-HEV intelligent hybrid tech can achieve key performance metrics:
– The electric motor’s power is up to 313 horsepower
– Runs on electricity nearly 80 percent of the time
– The top speed in EV mode reaches 66 km/h
– Accelerates from zero to 30 km/h in 1.84 seconds
“Energy diversification is a strategic foresight for Geely Auto. A company’s true strategic focus is ensuring every path leads to the future, which tests the technological depth and powerful energy resilience of our entire system. The new i-HEV perfectly embodies this resilience, serving as a powerful testament to how artificial intelligence can elevate hybrid efficiency and performance,” said Geely Auto Group CEO Jerry Gan.
Geely wasted no time in green-lighting the i-HEV tech for mass production. It will be equipped in several Geely models this year, including the Preface (Xingrui), Monjaro (Xingyue L), Starray (Boyue L), and the fifth-generation Emgrand (Dihao).

Autocar’s Take
Geely is making strides when it comes to hybrid technology and the use of AI power. This is seen in its new i-HEV intelligent hybrid tech, which is claimed to allow its vehicles to be more efficient while not sacrificing performance. The said move is a huge one, especially when you consider the current fuel price hike we are experiencing today due to the ongoing tension in the Middle East.
The i-HEV tech is also pushing the benchmark when it comes to efficiency, as Geely said that its new tech was able to achieve 45.01 km/l (or 2.22L/100 km), a significant and notable efficiency rating, especially when you’re talking about hybrid technology.
