Chevron, one of the Philippines’ oldest and largest multinational brands, underscored its ongoing commitment to education by returning as a platinum sponsor of the American Chamber Foundation Philippines, Inc.’s (AmCham) 11th ScholaCOLORun. This annual fun run aims to raise funds for scholarships that support underprivileged Filipino students through tuition assistance, living allowances, and career development programs.
This year’s event brought together 3,458 runners at Liwasang Ulalim in Pasay City, including a strong contingent of 290 employees from Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI) and Chevron Holdings Inc. (CHI). Their participation directly supports AmCham’s 109 current scholars.
Chevron has maintained a long-standing partnership with AmCham, spanning over 15 years, focused on expanding access to quality education. Collectively, their efforts have already benefited more than 2,400 students.
AmCham President Edwin Feist recalled the foundation’s early vision of providing educational opportunities to alleviate poverty. “One way to fight poverty is for people to get an education,” Feist said. “That’s why we sponsor students to help them stay in school and relieve their financial burden. Chevron has shared this vision and has been a proactive partner in advancing our initiatives.”
CHI General Manager Ethan Flowers emphasized the broader impact of education, stating, “Education is the backbone of the services we deliver for Chevron’s global operations. We’re proud to support AmCham and to contribute to building a stronger, better-equipped Filipino workforce.”
Chevron also formed one of the largest delegations at the run. “It’s inspiring to see employees invest in their own wellness while supporting the communities where we operate,” added Flowers.
Chevron employees such as Emil Bertolano and Mico Fetalvero joined the event to contribute to a meaningful cause. “It’s like hitting two birds with one stone—staying healthy while giving back,” Bertolano noted. Fetalvero added that initiatives like this help fill funding gaps in public education, easing burdens often shouldered by students and teachers alike.
Chevron remains committed to uplifting the Philippine education sector through sustained partnerships with AmCham and relevant government agencies. For more information about Chevron’s educational programs, visit https://www.chevron.com/worldwide/philippines.
