BYD to launch new Atto 3 this October

SHENZEN, CHINA – The BYD Atto 3 will be introduced in the Philippines within the month.

In an interview with motoring reporters, Mobility Access Philippines Ventures Incorporated Antonio Zara III said that the upcoming electrified subcompact sport utility vehicle (SUV) will have its local debut at the 11th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.

Motoring journalists from the ASEAN region were flown to Shenzen, China – BYD headquarters in the region- to witness the global push of BYD after becoming the best selling EV company surpassing Tesla.

While the Philippine specifications have yet to be revealed, the Atto 3 will have a 214 horsepower electric motor that can propel the vehicle up to 160 kilometers per hour in about 8-seconds.

The engine’s battery in the model’s version abroad can cover up to 420 kilometers (according to WLTP standards), which can be charged from 30-80 percent in under 30 minutes.

Among the safety technologies that could be equipped with the arriving model are blind spot detection, lane keep assist, intelligent cruise control, as well as the rear-cross traffic alert with brake assist.

As this piece is being written, auto scribes are testing another BYD model, the Seal.

The Seal is currently being sold in the Asia Pacific market but has yet to enter the Philippine market.
