BYD Philippines officially launches all-new BYD Shark 6 DMO

BYD Cars Philippines, through its Philippine distributor ACMobility, officially launched the BYD Shark 6 DMO. The brand’s first-ever pickup truck model in the country is set to pit against the highly competitive segment with its electrified technology.

“With the launch of the BYD Shark 6 DMO, we are not just introducing a groundbreaking vehicle to the Philippine market but also taking a step toward a more transformative and tech-forward future. This model blends electrified performance and rugged design, making it the perfect blend of adventure and resilience,” says Bob Palanca, Managing Director, BYD Cars Philippines.

At the heart of the BYD Shark 6 DMO is its revolutionary Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) technology, which gives it a blend of power, driving refinement, and efficiency. This allows the Shark 6 DMO to effortlessly switch between electric and fuel power modes to adapt to any driving condition.

Powering the Shark 6 DMO is a combo of 29.6kWh BYD Blade battery, a 1.5T onboard generator, and dual electric motors, which translates to a combined output of 435 PS and 650 Nm of torque. These numbers put the BYD pickup truck amongst the most powerful in its class.

Through the DMO technology, the Shark 6 seamlessly optimizes both efficiency and performance, providing an exceptional driving experience for everything from city commutes to rugged terrain. Equipped with all-wheel drive for both variants, the vehicle offers enhanced traction and stability.

“At BYD, we are dedicated to driving the future of mobility in the Philippines. The Shark 6 DMO is just the beginning of an exciting year as we continue to introduce groundbreaking products to the market. With our focus on cutting-edge, eco-friendly technology, we’re confident that these next-generation vehicles will redefine the driving experience and elevate the standards of the Philippine automotive industry,” said Aiffy Liu, Country Head of BYD Philippines.

As for its structure, the BYD Shark 6 DMO is built as a true pickup truck. The BYD pickup truck utilizes a Cell-to-Chassis framework which uses the proprietary Blade Battery as an integral part of the vehicle’s ladder frame. This framework is designed to enhance the Shark 6 DMO’s rigidity and safety.

The Shark 6 DMO’s exterior design is highlighted by its front fascia which features the BYD mega symbol, LED headlights, and connected daytime running lights. Both variants come with the two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels which complement its off-road-ready appeal.

More on its off-road worthiness, the Shark 6 DMO features a 230 mm ground clearance and a 700 mm wading depth. As a workhorse, it has a payload capacity of 835 kg and a towing capacity of 2,500 kg.

What makes the BYD truck further stand out among others in its class is its double wishbone suspension on all fours. This could translate to a smoother ride as well as better driving experience. The Shark 6 DMO also offers three drive modes – Eco, Normal, and Sport – and multi-terrain modes like Sand and Mud, to adapt to various driving conditions and preferences.

Inside, it features a cabin wrapped in premium materials with a minimalist design. The Premium variant comes with a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat and 4-way lumbar support, as well as seat heating and ventilation, for the two front seats.

The Shark 6 DMO comes with a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen display that has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. This infotainment system drives an 8-speaker sound system that comes standard in both variants.

As for driver assist and safety features, the BYD Shark 6 DMO is equipped with Cruise Control, a 360-degree View Camera, Front and Rear Sensors, Vehicle Dynamic Control, Hill Hold Control, Hill Descent System and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. The Premium variant elevates safety further with Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, and a Heads-Up Display.

Available in color options Deep Sea Blue, Cosmos Black, and Aurora White, the BYD Shark 6 DMO is priced at PHP 2,098,000 for the base model Advanced variant, and PHP 2,298,000 for the top-of-the-line Premium variant.

BYD Philippines is offering a special deal for first-time BYD customers who would purchase their Shark 6 DMO by March 31, 2025 with a PHP 50,000 discount. While current BYD owners who purchase a BYD Shark 6 DMO until the end of March will receive an additional PHP 50,000 discount for a total of Php100,000 discount. The same maximum discount of PHP 100,000 will also be applied to customers who were referred by existing BYD owners.
