BYD Cars Philippines has expanded its model lineup once again, with the Atto 2 officially making its local debut alongside the new Seal 5. The Atto 2 is a subcompact crossover that is offered with two power options. Interested individuals can choose between an electric vehicle (EV) and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), giving consumers flexible options when shopping for the Atto 2.
The BYD Atto 2 features a sleek yet striking exterior, which is highlighted by its bold front end. It comes with sharp LED headlights that feature automatic on and off functions. The headlights are integrated with LED daytime running lights, which enhance the Atto 2’s overall composed demeanor. The Atto 2 EV variants have a refined fascia since it has no grille, which is an expected design detail in EVs. The Atto 2 DM-i PHEV, on the other hand, is equipped with a lower grille.
The BYD Atto 2 measures 4,310mm long for the EV and 4,330mm for the DM-i, with both sharing a width of 1,830mm, a height of 1,675mm, a wheelbase of 2,620 mm, and a ground clearance of 150mm. It has distinctive lines on the side, while the black cladding adds texture to the Atto 2’s side profile. Depending on the trim, it rides on either 16-inch or 17-inch alloy wheels, while the side mirrors include integrated turn signals.
The rear of the Atto 2 comes with full-width LED taillights, high-mounted LED brake lights, rear fog lamps, and a windshield defogger with intermittent wipers.
Inside, the cabin features a clean layout, highlighted by a large screen placed in the middle of the soft-touch dashboard panel. The Atto 2 EV and the DM-i Premium trims also come with a six-way power-adjustable driver seat, while the DM-i Dynamic variant is equipped with black fabric with manual adjustments.
The BYD Atto 2 Premium trims have a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen display, while the Dynamic variant has a 10.1-inch screen. Both infotainment screens come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The Atto 2 also comes with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, placed behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The BYD Atto 2 can accommodate up to five passengers, including the driver. The rear seats come with a 60:40 split-folding rear seat, making it a versatile vehicle in terms of cargo loading. Speaking of which, the Atto 2’s cargo capacity is said to be 433 liters, which can be maximized to 1,335 liters when the rear seats are folded flat. All BYD Atto 2 variants come with automatic climate control, rear air vents, and a PM2.5 air filter.
In terms of safety, all BYD Atto 2 variants include front, side, and curtain airbags. All variants also include the following: electronic stability control, traction control, hill descent control, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The Atto 2 Premium trims come with a 360-degree camera with a see-through mode and six parking sensors.
Of note, the BYD Atto 2 EV DM-i Premium PHEV is the only variant that comes with DiPilot advanced driver assistance system, which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, front collision warning, and lane departure assistance, among others.
The BYD Atto 2 DM-i PHEV variants are powered by a 1.5-liter high-efficiency generator engine along with an electric motor producing 165 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. It also comes with a 7.9 kWh Blade Battery and a 45-liter fuel tank. BYD claims that the Atto 2 DM-i PHEV can do 45 kilometers of pure electric driving and can deliver a total combined driving range of 1,045 kilometers.
The BYD Atto 2 EV, on the other hand, is equipped with an electric motor that generates 177 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. It has a 45.1 kWh BYD Blade Battery that provides an electric driving range of up to 380 kilometers. BYD claims the Atto 2 EV can go from zero to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, while DC fast charging can top up the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 24 minutes.

BYD Cars Philippines has expanded its model lineup yet again, with the official launch of the Atto 2, available in either EV or PHEV options. Offering two powertrain options for the Atto 2 is a good move by BYD PH, as it offers potential clients more flexible options. By offering two powertrain options, it gives the Atto 2 a more diverse target customer base, which could be beneficial when it comes to yielding actual sales numbers. BYD PH now also has a more fitting vehicle that could rival the likes of the Toyota Yaris Cross HEV and even the Nissan Kicks e-Power.
