BYD Cars Philippines, a subsidiary of ACMobility, has been aggressively expanding its presence in the local automotive market. The introduction of new products is complemented by continuous dealership network expansion, a strategy that has paid off for BYD Philippines as it posted a notable sales performance last year.

BYD PH announced that it has recorded 26,122 units in retail sales in 2025, making it the fastest-growing automotive brand in the country. The 26,122 units sold in 2025 translates to a 446 percent year-on-year increase in sales volume.

The car brand said that its 2025 sales performance was fueled by high consumer demand across its diverse model lineup. Leading the charge is the BYD Seagull, which is the brand’s top-selling Battery Electric Vehicle in 2025.

The BYD Seagull is a subcompact all-electric hatchback that has a 74 hp permanent magnet synchronous motor with 135 Nm of torque, paired with a state-of-the-art BYD Blade Battery Pack. BYD claims that it provides a driving range of 300 kilometers on a single charge. It also has two-tone seats with leather accents and a 10.1-inch rotating infotainment system that comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Meanwhile, the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i led the car brand’s DM-i or hybrid range, which is said to reflect the Filipino consumer’s preference for new energy vehicles. It is equipped with BYD’s 13.8 kWh Blade battery and a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, generating a combined max power of 214 horsepower and 325 Nm of torque.

“2025 marked a significant milestone in the advancement and broader adoption of New Energy Vehicles in the country. BYD’s strong growth underscores our sustained commitment to democratizing electrified mobility. It demonstrates that when innovation is paired with accessibility, the market responds positively,” BYD Cars PH Managing Director Bob Palanca said.

Building on this success, BYD and ACMobility have officially renewed their distribution partnership for passenger cars in the Philippines, reaffirming a long-term commitment to the Philippine market.

BYD PH added that it has achieved its target of opening 79 operational dealerships nationwide in 2025. This is a huge increase from just 25 dealerships in 2024.

Autocar’s Take

BYD PH’s sales performance in 2025 shows that offering vehicles with smart technology at competitive prices is an effective way to reach a wider customer base. It also indicates that the local market is open to adopting new energy vehicles, as long as the pricing is reasonable and offers clear value for money.

The brand’s continued expansion of its dealership network is another key factor behind this growth, as more dealerships mean better access aftersales support. In addition, BYD’s partnership with ACMobility strengthens consumer confidence, as the latter is determined to expand the country’s EV charging infrastructure. With these efforts working together, BYD has further made its presence felt in the Philippine automotive market.
