Araneta City, known for its pioneering spirit, has taken another bold step towards sustainability with the introduction of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across its premises. These stations, a testament to the City of Firsts’ commitment to environmental responsibility, have been strategically placed within its shopping malls and office towers.
In a ceremony held last February, Araneta City unveiled its inaugural EV charging stations at the basement parking areas of Cyberparks 1 and 2. Equipped with Level 2 chargers featuring 5-meter Type 2 connector cables and a three-phase grid power supply, these stations are designed to facilitate faster charging for both electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
The initiative doesn’t stop there. Araneta City plans to extend the rollout of EV charging stations to other buildings within its vicinity, ensuring accessibility and convenience for EV owners.

Antonio T. Mardo, Senior Vice President for Operations of Araneta City, emphasized the significance of these green initiatives, stating, “Araneta City continues to transition into a sustainable and environment-friendly community by implementing green initiatives like the EV charging stations. It is a step to keep the City of Firsts future-proof and adaptive to the evolving needs of times.”
This move aligns with Araneta City’s broader efforts to integrate environmental sustainability into its operations. Prior initiatives include the installation of solar panels at Cyberpark 1, incorporation of green building design elements in Cyberpark 2, adoption of LEED standards in Cyberpark 3, utilization of geothermal energy to power Ali Mall, and the introduction of Green & Go e-shuttles.
“Through these initiatives, the City of Firsts supports the current push to reduce carbon footprint and adopt eco-friendly lifestyle options,” Mardo affirmed.
As Araneta City pioneers sustainable practices, it sets an example for other urban developments to follow, demonstrating that progress and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
