The Terrano is one of Nissan’s most popular models. It is known for its durability and distinctive styling, which has allowed the Terrano nameplate to be among the top choices when shopping for an SUV with notable off-road capability.
Recently, Nissan has revived the Terrano after decades of absence from its model lineup. It was resurrected as a PHEV Concept at the 2026 Auto China last April, and Nissan said that the concept aims to be a versatile off-roader that caters to the needs of outdoor adventure and urban commuting, featuring its latest plug-in hybrid technology.
Months after the Terrano PHEV Concept’s debut in Auto China, it seems that Nissan has already started testing the upcoming Terrano SUV, as spy shots are circulating online courtesy of Nissanarabian. The spotted vehicle is wrapped in camouflage, which is expected since Nissan wants to keep things quiet as much as possible.
But the rear shot of the vehicle in question reveals an emblem that reads: Terrano PHEV. Another clue seen on the spy shots is the rear-mounted spare wheel that resembles the design idea seen on the Terrano PHEV Concept. It also has a beefy rear bumper, which gives the vehicle a muscular appeal.
The front end, on the other hand, comes with a rather simple and more production-friendly headlight design. But despite that, the headlights look that it could come with a modern-looking finish. The grille shows the three-slat design seen on the concept version; however, we could expect that the production model’s final front fascia could be a tad simpler, which is expected when a concept vehicle transitions to production form. Meanwhile, the side profile has prominent black cladding and wide fender flares, which are design details seen on the concept version.
We also got a sneak peek of the Nissan Terrano PHEV’s cabin. From the looks of it, the upcoming Terrano PHEV could come with a two-tone interior of brown and black. The spy shots also suggest that the production version could come with a modern-looking center console that’s highlighted by a sleek gear selector. As is common on new model releases, the Terrano PHEV is looking to be integrated with a large central screen.
As of this writing, Nissan has yet to release more details about the upcoming Terrano PHEV. We still have no official information on whether it will be offered in five- or seven-seat configurations. The Nissan Terrano is also reportedly expected to debut sometime next year.

The Terrano is one of the Nissan models that arguably has a strong recall in the Philippines, and the reports about the upcoming launch of the new model are something to look forward to. Nissan has yet to release more details about the new Terrano PHEV, but reports state that it could be debuting sometime next year, with sales kicking off in China first. With that, will the Philippines be getting the new Terrano? Well, we have to wait for the official answer to that question. But it seems that Nissan Philippines is weighing its options.
