Honda is preparing another update for the Vezel, Japan’s version of the Honda HR-V, with the 2027 model-year refresh bringing additional equipment and several subtle styling changes.
As reported by Japanese media outlet Creative Trend, the updated compact SUV is scheduled to be officially announced in Japan on October 22, with sales following on October 23. Pre-orders are expected to begin on September 24, according to Japanese automotive publication Creative Trend.
Instead of just introducing a dramatic redesign, Honda appears to be concentrating on improving the HR-V’s everyday usability while giving selected variants a slightly different appearance.
The gasoline-powered G and hybridized e:HEV X grades are reportedly set to gain rear air-conditioning vents, rear USB Type-C ports, and heated front seats as standard equipment. These additions should make the compact SUV more accommodating for passengers, particularly on longer journeys.
The e:HEV Z, meanwhile, is expected to receive body-colored wheel-arch moldings and side skirts in place of the contrasting treatment used on the current model. The change gives the SUV a cleaner and more cohesive appearance without significantly altering its overall design.
There are also smaller visual revisions. The headlights are reportedly gaining darker internal elements, while Honda is said to be removing the e:HEV emblem from the rear and replacing it with a sticker positioned lower on the rear glass.
The e:HEV Z PLaY package is getting its own set of changes. One of the more notable additions is the availability of Crystal Black Pearl as a single-color exterior finish. The current combination of Crystal Black Pearl with a silver roof is reportedly being discontinued, although other two-tone combinations are expected to remain available.
These changes may seem relatively minor individually, but they address several areas that have become important in the compact SUV segment these days. Additional convenience amenities, connectivity, comfort, and subtle exterior personalization give the HR-V a more contemporary equipment package without requiring a major redesign.
The Japanese-market HR-V is also expected to expand its personality through additional variants. The e:HEV RS and the Vezel TrailSport are among the versions attracting attention as Honda develops the next phase of the model’s lineup.
For now, the reported October update concerns the regular HR-V grades. The RS and TrailSport variants are expected to follow later, potentially giving Honda’s compact SUV a broader range of personalities for Japanese buyers.
Honda has yet to officially confirm all of the reported changes, so the final specifications will become clearer when the updated HR-V is formally unveiled.
