Mercedes-Benz revealed the first all-electric C-Class, which is regarded as a reinvention of classic elegance for the electric age. The C-Class’ new look is night and day compared to the outgoing model, but Mercedes-Benz said that it remains true to its core values of “elegance, comfort, intelligence, and sportiness.”
“With the all-new electric C‑Class, we have made a profound statement: reinventing classic elegance for the electric age. Its distinctive coupe-like silhouette, sculpted with taut surfaces and muscular wheel arches, radiates a powerful emotional appeal,” shared Mercedes-Benz Group AG Chief Design Officer Bastian Baudy.
The all-electric C-Class comes with curvy and flowing lines, which are seen throughout the vehicle. The flowing lines are night and day as compared to the design direction that BMW opted to take, which is the integration of angular patterns as seen on the all-new i3 EV.
That said, the C-Class EV has a large bumper that’s accented by black trims, adding texture to the vehicle’s fascia. It also comes with LED headlights that have a three-pointed star design, making it unmistakably a Mercedes-Benz.
However, the highlight on the front end is arguably the fully illuminated front grille that features 1,050 illuminated dots and is housed in a wide chrome frame and smoked glass-look mesh structure. Mercedes-Benz said that the illuminated grille can come with optional animations when opening, closing, or charging the vehicle.

Turning at the side, the all-new C-Class comes with clean, flowing lines along with black and chrome trims, while featuring a coupe-like silhouette. The rear, on the other hand, is equipped with distinctive round taillights that are also integrated with a three-pointed star design. The bumper is then fitted with chrome and black trims.
Inside, the C-Class EV features a modern interior that looks seamlessly clean and clutter-free, thanks to the massive screen that runs throughout the whole width of the dashboard. The German car brand said that the C-Class’ 39.1-inch display sets new standards, creating a holistic driving and spatial experience.

The massive screen features a matrix backlight technology with over 1,000 individual LEDs and independently adjustable brightness zones. It also comes with an in-car infotainment system that combines artificial intelligence (AI) from ChatGPT4o and Microsoft Bing, as well as Google Gemini.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV also has a panoramic sunroof that comes with illuminated 162 stars, a perfect feature in case you want to have a very starry night date. The sunroof’s glass surface can also be switched between transparent and opaque in milliseconds. It is divided into nine independently switchable segments, enabling passengers to select individually how much light to let into the interior and in which area.

The all-new Mercedes-Benz C400 4Matic electric comes with a dual motor and all-wheel drive configuration, which delivers 482 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. Mercedes-Benz claims it can go from zero to 100 km/h in just four seconds before hitting a top speed of 209 km/h.
In terms of range, the C-Class EV is equipped with a 94 kWh battery that gives up to 762 kilometers of range (WLTP). It also has the capability to charge 325 kilometers of range in as little as 10 minutes, according to Mercedes-Benz. To put things in perspective, the BMW i3 can provide a pure electric driving range of up to 900 kilometers (WLTP), and can recharge energy for up to 400 km in 10 minutes.
Autocar’s Take
The all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class debuts with an all-electric powertrain, which shows the German car brand’s seriousness when it comes to embracing electric mobility. In terms of the design, it seems that Mercedes-Benz is taking an interesting route with the all-new C-Class. It now looks more fancy, as it is integrated with design details that could be considered over the top by some.
The overall design is up for debate, and we think that Mercedes-Benz intended to integrate several fancy features to be able to make the all-new C-Class more competitively stylish with the EVs being produced by Chinese car brands. The illuminated grille, the large screens, and the abundant integration of ambient lighting, among others, are just some of the design details that are also prominently seen in Chinese EVs.
