Adhering to its mission of delivering quality after-sales service and safety initiative, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has launched a Customer Satisfaction Campaign covering select Toyota Camry units. This unit recall announcement follows reports of a potential issue involving the model’s Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system.

According to the company’s official service campaign portal, the program applies to Camy units produced from November 25, 2022 to September 2, 2024. TMP said that a total of 1,033 units are included in the recall.

In detail, the issue centers on certain forward and side-view cameras used by the Camry’s PVM system. The PVM uses multiple cameras installed around the vehicle to provide drivers with a composite, bird’s-eye view of the car and its immediate outside parameters. It serves to assist in parking and low-speed maneuvering.

TMP shared that a malfunctioning defect affecting some of the cameras may cause cracks to form in the camera housing. Over time, these cracks could lead to internal circuit failure. If this occurs, the system may fail to display front or side images on the monitor. TMP emphasized that if the issue is found, the inspection, including any necessary corrective action, will be performed at no cost to the affected customers.

Affected Camry owners will be notified through official notification letters. Owners will be invited to visit authorized Toyota dealerships where professionally trained technicians will check the PVM system and its cameras. If needed, repairs or replacements will be carried out.

At the time the service campaign advisory was posted, parts for the repair were not yet available. TMP indicated that replacement parts are expected to be available by the end of March 2026 or later. Dealers will contact affected customers once parts arrive. Owners of affected Camry units are encouraged to coordinate with authorized dealerships once notified.

Autocar’s Take

TMP’s handling of this Camry service campaign demonstrates the company’s approach to product quality. While the issue does not appear to be classified as a safety recall, addressing potential PVM camera failure before it happens helps preserve customer trust.

By publicly disclosing the production range, and offering free inspection and repair on affected units, TMP is setting a good example of customer transparency. The challenge now will be timely parts availability and clear communication with affected owners, especially given the projected timeline for the arrival of replacement components.
