Xiaomi entered the gaming world of PlayStation’s Gran Turismo 7 after announcing that the SU7 Ultra will be part of the popular virtual racing game. The SU7 Ultra marks the first time a Xiaomi vehicle appears in the Gran Turismo franchise.
Xiaomi is not yet done, as it intends to continue expanding its presence in the Gran Turismo 7 with the unveiling of its Vision Gran Turismo (GT) car. The global debut of the Xiaomi Vision GT car took place at the 2026 Mobile World Congress (MWC), held in Barcelona, Spain. This marks Xiaomi’s official participation in the Vision GT project, led and started by Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi. Not just that, Xiaomi is said to be the first technology brand to join the list of other Vision GT cars from different car brands.
Xiaomi Design Head of EV Tianyuan Li noted that through the Xiaomi Vision GT, the Chinese tech company becomes the 36th brand to join the Vision GT project, and it is also the 51st Vision GT concept car developed for the franchise.
The Xiaomi Vision GT is designed following the “Sculpted by the Wind” principle, which is said to make the car as aerodynamic as possible, where every surface has been optimized for airflow. The Chinese tech company said that its Vision GT car’s silhouette takes the form of a teardrop, and it is sculpted with airducts forming channels that guide air throughout the vehicle.

This results in having a vehicle that looks sleek, seamless, and modernly sporty. The slim headlights are placed neatly into the vehicle’s front end, while the rear is characterized by a massive halo-shaped taillight that is integrated into the massive air outlet structure. Xiaomi explains that it has also equipped the rear with the Active Wake Control System, a matrix of holes surrounding the taillight. The tech giant said that this feature uses real-time data on vehicle speed and angle, and it actively adjusts airflow to push turbulent air away from the Xiaomi Vision GT’s rear.

Another feature that Xiaomi is proud of is the Accretion Rims, seen on the wheels. It is a vortex-shaped wheel cover that actively pulls air to cool the brakes during operation, according to Xiaomi. The Accretion Rims are said to be semi-transparent and come with turbine fins inside. With all the designs combined, Xiaomi claims that its Vision GT car has a drag coefficient of 0.29, downforce of -1.2, and an aerodynamic efficiency rating of 4.1.
Inside, Xiaomi introduces the “Sofa Racer” concept, featuring a cocoon-like cabin that “gently envelops the driver.” The company said that it is equipped with intelligent features, including Xiaomi Pulse, an intelligent assistant built into the dashboard. Wrapping 360 degrees around the driver, it connects to sensors throughout the vehicle, reading the environment and the driver’s state, and communicating through light and sound.

Of note, Xiaomi and Gran Turismo have yet to announce the exact date as to when the Xiaomi Vision GT will be available for gameplay in Gran Turismo 7.
Autocar’s Take
Xiaomi is making strides when it comes to showcasing its name. Releasing its own Vision GT car is a huge statement, which shows that it is more than just a tech company that manufactures smartphones and smart appliances. Being regarded as the first tech brand to join the list of other Vision GT cars from different car brands is another highlight to be added to Xiaomi’s expanding portfolio.
The Xiaomi Vision GT, while it looks sleek and modern, resembles how McLaren produces its hypercars, especially when you look at the front end. But beyond that, the Xiaomi Vision GT is a car that has its own unique design, which is arguably seen in how its taillights and its cabin are envisioned.
