Chinese carmaker, Geely, through its official local distributor, Geely Motor Philippines (GMP), recently launched two new models to solidify its presence in the fast-growing electric vehicle (EV) segment – the Geely EX5 and the Geely Okavango Elite. Now, the brand is proudly announcing the availability of the models in all its Geely dealerships nationwide.

The EX5 is equipped with an AI-powered infotainment system, a digital cockpit, and voice-activated controls. The interior emphasizes space and usability, with 33 storage compartments, premium seats equipped with massage and memory functions, and flat-folding seat configurations for added versatility.

Moreover, Geely recently rolled out its global upgrade for the EX5’s infotainment, pedestrian alert, and language compatibility systems. While GMP has yet to confirm if these updates are already in its local EX5 units, it’s only a matter of time before these updates become standard locally.

The Geely EX5 delivers 215 hp and 320 Nm of torque, thanks to its 60.22 kWh battery that runs an electric motor, which drives the front wheels. With this setup, the Geely EX5 is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. Despite this output, it remains efficient, consuming just 14kWh per 100 kilometers.

For safety, the Geely EX5 is equipped with 13 advanced driver assistance (ADAS) functions, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control, among others. Its EV-specific crash structures and battery safety system provide additional layers of protection.

Alongside the Geely EX5 is the Geely Okavango Elite. It debuts a smarter infotainment interface with responsive touch screen controls designed to simplify everyday driving. Moreover, it comes with new trim finishes, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof for a more pleasant and fresh-feeling drive. Safety enhancements make the Okavango Elite shine as a family-oriented ride. It comes with features such as six airbags, a 360-degree HD panoramic camera, and blind-spot monitoring, for improving driver awareness and passenger protection.

Under the hood is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a mild hybrid system. The hybridized powertrain helps reduce fuel consumption while delivering strong torque, an ideal combination of advantages for navigating through daily city traffic or long-distance travel.
