The Lexus LFA is the Japanese brand’s baptism of fire in the supercar world. It brought not only style and performance, but also an F1-like sound experience from its Yamaha-developed 4.8-liter V10 engine. Now, it’s been over a decade since the last LFA rolled off the assembly line, and enthusiasts are eager for its successor.
The brand has not officially announced it yet, but it seems an LFA successor is closer to becoming a reality. That’s because Lexus recently pulled the wraps off the Sport Concept at The Quali, A Motorsports Gathering during the 2025 Monterey Car Week in California.
Lexus said that the Sport Concept represents its “vision for a next-generation sports car.” As vague as this statement seems to be, it strongly hints to an LFA follow-up, which is rumored to be called the Lexus LFR, according to our friends back at Autocar UK.

The Lexus Sport Concept’s design shows off a slender proportion. It’s got extended front lighting and grille that blend well into the aerodynamic elements up front. The side features a smooth silhouette with a long hood and what seems like a fastback design treatment at the rear.
These are accented by intricate details such as the camera-style side mirrors, roof-mounted brake light, sizable diffuser, an “N” shaped rear light bar, and an active rear spoiler. Although the concept didn’t show any sort of exhaust setup, it can be seen that it sports an upside-down triangle design element just below the bumper, reminiscent of the LFA’s tailpipe design.
Because it appears to have no tailpipes, Autocar UK speculates that the Lexus Sport Concept could run as an EV when it finally moves up to the production phase in the near future. Come to think of it, this speculation somehow connects with Lexus Philippines’ recent showcase of the Lexus Electrified Sport Concept, a display car that closely resembles, in looks, the recently unveiled Sport Concept.

The British publication added that the Lexus Sport Concept may also be engineered as a V8 supercar, similar to the camouflaged demo unit the brand showed off at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Lexus is still tight-lipped about the Sport Concept’s other details, most importantly its powertrain, production schedule, and production quantities. But one thing’s certain – May it be an LFA successor or not, Lexus is gearing up for something to challenge the supercar world again. We can’t wait for it already.
