Geely Auto has officially launched its new “Five by Five” globalization strategy—a framework designed to strengthen the company’s international footprint through innovation, sustainability, and system integration. At the same event, Geely introduced the Yinhe M9, a new six-seater flagship SUV that showcases the brand’s latest advancements in AI and hybrid technologies.
“The ‘Five by Five’ strategy marks a new phase in Geely’s global development, reflecting nearly three decades of technical knowledge and manufacturing capability,” said Jerry Gan, CEO of Geely Auto Group. “With five design centers, five R&D hubs, five testing clusters, five powertrain technologies, and five AI ecosystems, we are building a complete and globally connected automotive platform focused on quality, sustainability, and user experience.”
The strategy anchors Geely’s expansion on five key pillars:
- Design: Geely’s five global design centers—including locations in Shanghai, Milan, and Coventry—unify Eastern and Western design philosophies.
- Research and Development: Five R&D centers drive innovation in mobility technologies, with Frankfurt and Gothenburg serving as critical European hubs.
- Testing Infrastructure: A network of 16 test bases, including the newly opened Geely Europe Testing Base in Frankfurt and the forthcoming safety testing center in Ningbo, supports product development focused on global performance and user standards.
- Powertrain Technologies: Geely is diversifying with five powertrain solutions—ranging from high-efficiency internal combustion engines to pure electric, hybrid, methanol fuel, and battery swapping systems.
- AI Ecosystems: Five AI ecosystems will integrate connected services, autonomous driving, and cloud-based enhancements across vehicle platforms.
Alex Nan, Vice President of Geely Auto Group and CEO of Geely Auto International Corporation (GAIC), emphasized the strategy’s significance: “This initiative strengthens our position in the global automotive landscape by building a resilient, world-class ecosystem.”
Introducing the Yinhe M9: A New Benchmark for Intelligent Mobility
Unveiled alongside the strategy was the Geely Yinhe M9, a six-seater SUV engineered to embody the vision of the “Five by Five” roadmap. Featuring the EM-P Super Hybrid system, the M9 achieves a fuel consumption rate of 4.8 L/100 km and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
It is the first model to feature Geely’s AI Digital Chassis and G-Pilot H5 intelligent driving assistance suite. The SUV also introduces the next-generation AI Smart Cockpit, supported by AI Cloud 2.0 and a comprehensive ADAS platform. High safety standards position it among the most secure vehicles in its class.
Combining advanced design, AI integration, and sustainable engineering, the Yinhe M9 reinforces Geely’s strategy to provide premium mobility solutions tailored to global needs.
