Suzuki Philippines made a strong impression on the opening day of the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) at the World Trade Center Manila, unveiling its exciting electric concept car, the eVX, along with the Jimny 3-Door and 5-Door Rhino Editions. These launches underscore Suzuki’s commitment to innovative and eco-friendly mobility solutions.
During the event, Mr. Norihide Takei, Director and General Manager of Suzuki Philippines’ Automobile Division, delivered an inspiring address that highlighted the company’s dedication to sustainable transportation. “At Suzuki, our mission is to enhance lives through mobility solutions that not only address current needs but also anticipate future demands. We believe that staying connected with local communities and offering innovative, environmentally friendly mobility is vital to our mission. As the world evolves, so does our approach to mobility. Our journey toward carbon neutrality transcends merely replacing gasoline-powered vehicles with electric alternatives,” Mr. Takei emphasized, showcasing Suzuki’s multifaceted approach to environmental sustainability.

eVX Concept: A Vision of Electric Mobility
Among the standout attractions was the Suzuki eVX, embodying the concept of an ‘Emotional Versatile Cruiser.’ Its unique SUV silhouette sets it apart from traditional models, featuring an upright stance, horizontal hood, commanding seating position, spacious cabin, extended wheelbase, large wheels, and high ground clearance. These design elements reflect Suzuki’s SUV heritage. Built on a dedicated EV platform, the eVX is engineered for safety and comfort, boasting cutting-edge battery technology and a suite of connected features.
With a focus on aerodynamic efficiency, the eVX has a drag coefficient designed for performance, measuring 4,300mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,600mm in height. It offers an impressive driving range of up to 550km, based on the modified Indian driving cycle (MIDC), with plans for market introduction by 2025. “The eVX aims to carry forward Suzuki’s 4×4 legacy into the new electric era, ensuring an authentic Suzuki SUV experience,” stated Mr. Takei.

Jimny Rhino Edition: Elevating Off-Road Capability
The spotlight also shone on the Jimny Rhino Edition, a favorite among attendees at PIMS. Suzuki showcased both the Jimny 3-Door and 5-Door Rhino Editions, each featuring specialized accessories to enhance their rugged aesthetics.
Equipped with a distinctive front grille, under garnish, mud flaps, and a striking Rhino decal, these editions enhance the Jimny’s off-road capabilities. Powered by Suzuki’s reliable 1.5-liter gasoline engine, both models deliver 120 PS and 130 Nm of torque, with options for a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.

Hybrid Innovations: XL7 Hybrid Black Upgrade and Ertiga Hybrid
Demonstrating its commitment to reducing carbon emissions, Suzuki also presented the XL7 Hybrid Black Upgrade and the Ertiga Hybrid. The XL7 Hybrid features enhanced styling with a black front grille and alloy wheels, complemented by accessories like a rear upper spoiler, emphasizing performance and design.
The Ertiga Hybrid showcased its upgrades, including a new radiator grille design, sports emblem, and protective accessories such as a rear bumper scuff plate and door sill guards, balancing style with eco-friendliness.

S-Presso: A Bold Statement
Completing Suzuki’s lineup was the S-Presso, a bold hatchback featuring an Expedition Kit with stylish additions like a front upper grille garnish and side cladding, demonstrating that compact cars can make a significant impact.
Innovative Partnerships and Future Technologies
Mr. Takei highlighted Suzuki’s dedication to advancing mobility through innovative partnerships. A key collaboration with TIER IV, a leader in open-source autonomous driving software, is focused on exploring the future of autonomous vehicles to enhance road safety and efficiency.
Suzuki’s involvement in the HAKUTO-R commercial lunar exploration program showcases its expertise in structural analysis, contributing to the development of landing gear for lunar landers. This partnership exemplifies Suzuki’s capacity to drive innovation across various sectors.
Further emphasizing its commitment to cutting-edge mobility solutions, Suzuki is a vital partner in the SkyDrive flying car project, developing compact electric flying vehicles aimed at transforming urban transport. Additionally, Suzuki’s collaboration with M2 Labo has resulted in the Mobile Mover robot, designed for agricultural use, showcasing the company’s technological applications beyond the automotive industry.
Commitment to a Sustainable Future
Concluding his speech, Mr. Takei reaffirmed Suzuki’s dedication to an innovative and sustainable future: “Whether through hybrid vehicles, autonomous driving, or flying cars, Suzuki is committed to creating a future that is exciting, innovative, and sustainable for everyone.”
